Comments Thread For: Tim Tszyu Plans On Moving Up In Weight In About a "Year or So"

The super welterweight division is a bit thin in terms of top-tier talent on the championship level. It isn't the glamor weight class that it once was, but Tim Tszyu has a few options, emphasis on the word few.

Crawford VS Tszyu is an interesting fight at 154 or 160.

Yeah, it's totally dead. Just Charlo, Tszyu, and some nobodies like Terence Crawford, Errol Spence Jr, Vergil Ortiz Jr, and wouldn't be surprised to see Ennis there soon too. Also Bakram Murtazaliev, Israel Madrimov, Xander Zayas, and other recognizable names like Fundora, or Austin Trout. What's so dead about 154?

I’d like to see it. At 154.

Interesting for about 5 rounds. These Aussie guys tend to fall apart when they have to face top tier talent.

Some of them, such as Ortiz, and very likely Spence, can't make 147 any more. Crawford will go where the biggest money fights are, I'd guess, and I'm pretty sure that's whoever comes out undisputed at 154. Jermell may have made enough bank that he doesn't care and may retire and vacate belts, but if he still wants money, the biggest fights for him are almost certainly at 154, and Crawford will want his crack at third undisputed quickly before he gets too old. Unless the ****** Canelo fight happens.

Ennis I'm sure will try to stay at 147 long enough to get a belt, but I honestly think 147 is looking pretty weak for a while, with the top guys like probably Ennis, Stanionis, Taylor, Crowley, Rashidi Ellis, Giyasov, and Rocha not nearly as well known as their predecessors. How are those guys going to fill the shoes left by Spence, Crawford, and even Thurman, etc, let alone Mayweather or Pacquiao? Ugas is badly faded, Josh Taylor looks like crap lately, Ellis just got beaten by Villa who lost badly to Ennis, Crowley just squeaked by Ramos, and hasn't gotten a stoppage in 5 years and 62 rounds, Rocha and Giyasov fight on DAZN and Rocha already has a loss to the aforementioned Ellis, while Giyasov hasn't been tested.

I'm not too sure that Ortiz ever fights again. It's a sad situation.

That's what I was thinking. He's no longer a player until/unless there's some different news.

Is Canelo the only fighter you're ok with fighting people 3 weights above their weight class like he's the only fighter you dismiss failing a drug test whilst criticizing everyone else that does?
