Will Mahmoud Charr actually defend his reinstated 'regular' belt?

Since being handed this undeserved gift by the WBA I notice his mandated fight with Miller has gone quiet? Is Charr planning to go back to court to argue for a weaker first defence?

A sanctioning body can order a fight, but the fight can only happen if there is enough money out there to put the fight together.

It might be for a title, but Charr-Miller is probably not going to attract a lot of interest from the networks. Neither guy is with a major promoter.

Meanwhile Charr is probably looking for a big payday here because Miller is a tough opponent and will probably open as the favorite.

They're probably going back and forth about money as we speak.

Charr would have been better off just dropping the belt and being a contender in any other organization, that WBA belt is cursed.

Looking like the answer to this question might be a 'no': https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/b...vs-baraou-more

Why give Miller the fight? Makes no sense now, it felt like it was a donne deal.

So 60 more days to waste, why not just order Charr vs Wilder? It looks like the kind of fight Wilder enjoys to stay busy.

AJ might be interested as well, Hearn has mentioned Charr in the past.

Charr wants big money to sell his paper belt, purse bids is probably the only way to get a fight made other than Wilder or AJ.

Bakole and Big Mak would take this.

Charr is a journeyman, J Guidry is the only ranked fighter he beats.

A month on and still no news. I suppose the WBA will want to follow protocols precisely before stripping him to avoid another lawsuit.

Are you following this farce out of morbid curiosity?

Yes. I want to see the WBA follow through with its plan to eliminate all 'regular' belts.
