Better than Manfredo - could Calzaghe have fought anyone he liked at that point? No.

Cotto and Margacheato having weak tune ups?

Erm, weren't they both coming off dominating losses for the ones your probably talking about? Post big name wins and being able to make a few bigger fights, they didn't go so low down the ranks as this.

All I'm saying is, Hopkins still has some in the bag as he's shown, he can risk a little more than this, as a tune up to a past prime Roy also whom he's also over dog against. He does rack on about taking risks and did mention I'm sure wanting a decent tune up. That is not this I'm afraid. It's not god awful by any means, just not great. He could fight someone a fair bit better, still not risk much, probably get a belt, gain more credibility, add to his legacy. It's a shame as I think HE deserves more.
      Well said.

Anyways, bhop has a deal to fight roy jones (that is a $$$$ fight). Tune up fight? Ever heard of one before? This is the very definition of a tune up fight.

You're assuming my opinion on a Bernard opponent then?

Because that's bull****. If Bernard came out with a bottom tier top 10 LHW, even a top 15 LHW as a tune up then great, grand, fantastic... Let's get the show on the road.

But the 13th ranked middleweight? You just SMOKED the #1 MIDDLEWEIGHT last year, now you want a tune up against #13? Two weight divisions low?

So it's bull**** to "assume" I wouldn't like this news just because I like Roy Jones, I have nothing against Bernard and I often go to bat for Bernard.

A tuneup is great, I understand what a tune up is... Just seems a little underkill, for a tune up.

And please don't compare Roys recent oponent list to Bernard. Roy isnt one of the top LHW's and he isn't on the p4p list, so don't talk about what Roy does and why it's ok for Bernard.

His last fight was at 168 son, Super middleweight.

Plus it appears he has some relations with Golden Boy, as his last fight was a Golden Boy card:

And? He is a ranked MW fighter... having one or two fights at SMW his hardly the evidence of a SMW fighter.

What a joke fight. Can PopShotkins even score a knockout over this clown? I doubt it.
