Comments Thread For: Joe Smith On Zurdo Ramirez Clash: Just Kind Of Came Up, They Asked If I Wanted To Take It

It didn't take much persuasion to get Joe Smith Jr. back in the ring. There was a little bit of effort involved, though. The idea of a fight versus Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez and at a new weight enticed the former light heavyweight titlist from

    Oh, what enthusiasm, what commitment!

Makes me want to bet on everything, except a Smith win

Does not seem like a guy at all committed to boxing at this point.

I know he doesn't sound too enthused, but I still hope The Long Island Hammer just absolutely smashes Zurdo and retires him for good. At least Joe always comes to get it, and doesn't stop trying when he knows he's being shut out on the scorecards, like the Charlo sister just did. And Zurdo can't even bother to make 175 when he just moved up from 168 not too long ago? Zurdo is the new Chavez Jr.

Real pity Joe doesn't seem all that enthused, was looking forward to seeing him ply his trade in the growing cruiserweight division

Maybe I am missing something, but I don't see a lack of commitment or enthusiasm. It just sounds like Zurdo wasn't on his radar and then once the fight was offered, he wanted the best financial opportunity he could get as a professional fighter I'm sure he trained hard and will be ready to give 100%

yea he is going to try and win and if he dont he will loose which is no going to happen. Getting near the end of the line for Joe Jr. that is fine everyone seems to take the money at some point.....**** offer ? not enough money to get in there at 190 and see how it goes but now the money is right. Joe Jr. has come up short a few times when stepping up, dont like the look of the weight limit and all that but will watch it anyhow something might happen inside the ring maybe more then what happened last weekend with Jema ..........Like to see Charlotte go 12 rounds with a broken jaw, or stand in on some of the fire power he has at least he fights ..................i know and looses..............

I wouldn't read too much in to the quotes. Smith is always in shape and hopefully this fight is a barnburner!
