Comments Thread For: Curmel Moton: Inoue Is A Solid Fighter; I'll Be A Lot Better Than Him When It's All Said And Done

With his legendary, proud promoter standing beside him, Curmel Mouton exuded confidence that defies his age. The highly touted, 17-year-old featherweight prospect predicted that he'll become a better fighter than Naoya Inoue when he was informed that Shakur Stevenson compared his skill set to that of the renowned Japanese superstar the day

Great attitude but there's a lot of ground to cover between now and surpassing Inoue. He just needs to stay focused on his career and chase greatness, not just paychecks.

Hope Floyd keeps him busy! Only 17, he can fight 4 times a year, easy! I did see an amateur fight where Shakur's cousin beat him! I wonder what that kid is up to?

Curmel did an interview a day before the weigh in and he had the sickly drained look. He'll definitely be using PEDs to weight bully as his career continues.

Did Floyd let him speak without interrupting?

I'm all for youngsters being confident, but both the kid and Mayweather seems to be refusing to acknowledge some of the records Inoue has. All the big mouth will be for nothing if he doesn't get a belt on his 6th pro fight or earlier.

Some numbers that Moton has to try to obtain to be on par with Inoue:
6th match, first world title (Inoue won the Junior Fly WBC title at age 20 on his 6th pro-match).
8th match, second world title (won Super Fly WBO title on his first match at second division which he skipped a weight as well).
16th match, third world title (won Bantam WBA title on his first match at third division).
18th match, fourth world title (won unified Bantam WBA/IBF).
23rd match, fifth world title (won unified Bantam WBA/WBC/IBF).
24th match, sixth world title/undisputed (won undisputed Bantam weight).
25th match, seventh/eighth title (won unified Super Bantam WBC/WBO on his first match at fourth division).

Obviously his 4 belts won in 3 matches from 23 to 25 requires opponents to be lined up and the multi-division champ will also be hard given that he's starting at feather weight at age 17, but Mayweather better be willing to feed him to some world champ within the next three years at the least if they want to be better than Inoue.

By the way Inoue is on a 20 match streak of world titles which soon will be 21 matches with Tapales, and if he sticks to his plans the next two years is likely to be:
26th match, (likely soon to be) ninth/tenth world title/second undisputed (undisputed Super Bantam against Tapales).
27th-29th match, Nery/Casimero/MJ fights just to clear out Super Bantam.
30th match (around 2025), first match at Feather weight.

If Mayweather is actually willing to back up their big mouth, he should be planning to have Moton be a feather weight belt holder by 2026 so that they can fight Inoue. Doubt it happens though.

It's so weird to see Floyd's fighters comparing themselves to Inoue. Whenever posters on here would say "Tank is young!! He doesn't need to fight anyone!!" I'd always point out that he was just a year younger than Inoue, and is months younger than Kosei Tanaka.

Tank is still young. Inoue is The Monster
