Probably because Inoue is the best and biggest name under 130 lbs and the biggest cash purse dream for the lighter weight guys.

Also, a part of me thinks the reason Mayweather absolutely refuses to acknowledge Inoue and continues to call him "the kid from Japan" is because he's probably really salty that Inoue has a very realistic chance of accomplishing the few major boxing records that Mayweather wasn't capable of accomplishing like multi-division undisputed champion or a 6 division champion. He's not the smartest guy on Earth, but can't be ****** enough that he truly cannot remember Inoue's name despite hearing and reading about it so many times especially the past year. Heck, even if the exact pronunciation is hard, something like Ee-no-way isn't that hard.

Young fella has a bright future ahead of him if he stays on the right track with the right people.

I wish him well. He could potentially be the next big thing for Boxing, but who knows? Time will tell as many said.

I actually hope this kid is indeed a real deal because a potential American star in the lighter weights (not lightweight, but the below-130 lbs classes) will add a potential new wave of fans to that area, but at the same time if he is truly the real deal I'm worried that Mayweather will pull him back for too long to add on the wins and popularity but not belts and legacy.

I mean, Tank Davis will be 29 next month, and last fought in April this year with a 29-0 record. However he didn't fight a title match until his 17th match where he won the IBF super title, but since then only got a few "Regular" belts above super featherweight across three divisions. For guy with his talent, in 29 matches he's won:
IBF super featherweight title (stripped two matches later due to not making weight)
                WBA (Super) super featherweight title
                WBA (Regular) lightweight title
WBA (Regular) super lightweight title (went up once then back to light weight)
Never been a unified champion, and not even a legit (Super) champion at the moment in his weight class.

Inoue who's name gets thrown around a lot was an undisputed champion at age 29 while in his third division, and about to get his 2nd undisputed champion status at age 30 in his fourth division. If Davis cared more about his legacy than just money or popularity, he'd be the undisputed lightweight champion already (because he's obviously more talented than Haney if he gave a damn) and possibly considering cleaning out super lightweight next.

Floyd already has him name dropping and mentioned Inoue. Which probly means they're going to wait til he gets old af to challenge him.

However one major difference between Tank vs Inoue and Moton vs Inoue is that while the former is realistically near impossible to materialize given the weight difference, the latter is actually realistic or almost a matter of time if you strictly consider just the weights.

I mean, Inoue is currently at 122 right now, and will more than likely to be fighting in the same weight class as Moton when 2025 rolls around. Unless Mayweather plans to have this kid (who I didn't realize was quite short...only 5'2" surprisingly) go up to super feather in the next few years and continue barking from there, he can only big mouth against Inoue for so long while also ducking him when he is already in the same weight class.
