Comments Thread For: Charlo: Wish I Gained More Weight After Weigh-In; I Should've Came Forward Little Bit More

No, you fool. You should have tried to fight. You just wanted to survive and get your check. Crawford and Tszyu would both beat your ass. But, to be honest, I would never give you any fight for being the coward you are.
Come forward a little more you say? You decided that the only gear you committed to was going in reverse. What a F-in chump you are.Comment

He has a belly and man boobs.
168 is definitely not his weight.
I'm surprised by the stamina he had and the ability to move around the ring all night given his physical condition.
But I suppose he saved a lot of his strength and stamina by NOT throwing punches, lol.Last edited by Doubledagger; 10-02-2023, 09:37 PM.Comment

Both Errol and Charlo had weight issues.Jermell's trainer, Derrick James, wanted him to come in lighter. I don't know if it would have helped much if he came in heavier on fight night. I think the past month or so brings up a larger question. Both the highley acclaimed Errol Spence and Jermel, and undisputed champ, got their head handed to them by fighters who have spent most of their career outside of the confines of PBC. I would not call them "protected fighters" but for the most part PBC fighter don't challenge themselves beyond those narrow confines. The keep the fight in-house approach might make sense at some level but it prevents them from fighting the best at a world level. The truth is you have to test yourself against the best to be the best. This is true for all sports and in life more generally.
Errol was weight drained and Charlo looked like a blown up junior middleweight in there with a belly and man boobs.
They both also came from long ass lay offs and injuries while both of their opponents took tune ups before fighting them.
I can't tell if they were played or they played themselves.Comment

Nah he didn't prepare properly. Dude had a belly and man boobs.Coming in heavier than what you did, wouldn't have helped you out, it only would've made you slower, and more of a sitting duck.
You prepared properly, you just couldn't deal with Canelo's pressure, and his obvious advantage in power.
Coming forward a little bit more wouldn't have helped you out either, because you would've had to come forward a lot more in order to have a chance of winning.
He was blown up.
His obsession with weight does indicate low intelligence like Wilder against Fury.
Derek James and Errol Spence warned him about blowing up and told him to come into the ring at 163 or 165lbs.
I remember an interview where Derek said that to him and he flat out told Derek he aint doing that.
Fool didn't listen. Hand speed and reaction time looked slow AF in there.Comment

His body prevented him.
During the whole promotion he was complaining about how hard it was to keep his weight up because his weight kept dropping when he was getting into shape.
I remember he said his walk around weight out of camp is 168lbs and it drops massively when he starts gaining fitness.
He said he was trying to bulk up to 181lbs so that he can cut down to 168lbs for the weigh in.
IMO he should have listened to his trainer and came in at 163 or 165 on fight night instead of trying to bulk up.
Mayweather and Manny dominated for years because they kept their speed, agility, and explosiveness by NOT trying to match the OPTIMUM weight of the OPPONENT but by coming in at THEIR optimum weight instead.
Charlo, like Wilder, is hard headed though.
Worrying about the wrong things just like Wilder did in teh Fury rematches.Comment

why would you put fans in that perspective they are not fighters they should not be judge the same way. What about 95% of all time great boxers wouldn’t do what Charlo did which was talk smack, call out someone for years and then then gets offered the opportunity of a lifetime and then on fight night was just contented to survive.
But the weight definitely is behind how you feel, I said all along they going to weigh within a few pounds of either other, only Charlos was water weight Canelos was muscle weight, Charlo felt the power right away and felt the physical strength in the first clinch, Charlo is a smart fighter he is not a pit dog he knew he would get knocked out if he engaged more than he did so his mind was defence and try to sniper a big shot which bounced of anyway, yep he fought to survive, tough position to be in what would you have done dive into unconsciousness or box, I think 95% of fans would do what Charlo did in the same situation.
