Mell trashed his own rep doing this garbage. I hope it was worth it, this will dog him the rest of his days.

What were the fight-night weights? Was VADA involved in the drug testing?

Canelo barely even counters anymore. Been either pure defense of loading up on a punch for some years now.

I don't know what people expected... A Zebra is not going to suddenly become a Leopard... Shiat does not work that way folks! Charlo never had a chance, he never had enough power to threaten Canelo's chin, he never had the mobility to fight like Trout, or Plant, who both (particularly Trout) had some success. So you are Charlo, and what is your strategy? Hope that putting more weight on magically changes you from a Zebra to a Leopard lol.

Charlo is a tough kid, he did what he could to hang in there... No he did not go for broke and get knocked out, but ever try doing that in the ring? I don't think either fighter has anything to be a shame of... Canelo looked solid and ready to fight on, Charlo took the money and hung in there...

Jermell's trainer, Derrick James, wanted him to come in lighter. I don't know if it would have helped much if he came in heavier on fight night. I think the past month or so brings up a larger question. Both the highley acclaimed Errol Spence and Jermel, and undisputed champ, got their head handed to them by fighters who have spent most of their career outside of the confines of PBC. I would not call them "protected fighters" but for the most part PBC fighter don't challenge themselves beyond those narrow confines. The keep the fight in-house approach might make sense at some level but it prevents them from fighting the best at a world level. The truth is you have to test yourself against the best to be the best. This is true for all sports and in life more generally.

Well... he was fighting a guy who was really tentative and kind of fighting off his back foot. I mean Charlo was not fighting strategically off his back foot, so much as out of fear of getting countered. So I do not think Canelo had opportunities to counter.

Like I said. “For some years now”. Go look at the Ryder fight.

Maybe Charlo-Crawford at 154 will be more competitive.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda! Bottom line, Charlo stunk up the joint! Poor effort!

                      I think this is fair.

A fighter jumps two weight divisions to challenge someone who is undisputed at that weight. It is a one-sided fight. No one should be surprised no matter how crappy that is.
