What would Canelos gameplan be to beat David Benevidez?

The only way I see the ginger winning is by KO. But I don't see that happenig.

He can't fight at range and try counter against the 6'2 benevidez. Benevidez has one of the best jabs in the game and is a great fighter at range.

His best shot is coming foward, but he would be walking into a barrage of bunches from the longer, stroner, Benevidez. Benevide throws in bunches and is a great body puncher.

This is a huge mismatch IMO. Benevidez smokes Canelo.

Canelo is more skilled than Benavidez. That’s how he will win.

Plant showed that Benavidez is still the same guy who lost to Gavril…still gets frustrated like hell, still follows instead of cut off the ring. His power and stamina saved him. Benavidez reminds me of a bigger Margarito.

The most accurate scorecard for Plant-Benavidez was the 115-113 one. And he straight up lost to Gavril.

I really hope Benavidez is one of the 3-fight deal. I would love to see Benavidez reduced to just another Billy Joe Saunders or Callum Smith, or Alfredo Angulo or James Kirkland on Canelo’s resume. A forgotten win. Hell, people even down play Daniel Jacobs.

David Benavidez will be just another win ya’ll are gonna downplay in time.

Just counter on closed quarters, beat him to the punch. Canelo is the better fighter,, he wont have to follow benavides like he did charlo, all he has to do is counter and thats what canelo does best..

I’ve always believed Canelo beats Benevides. Canelo has trouble with guys that have fast feet and great reflexes (Lara, Floyd, ggg, Bivol). Those are things Benevides doesn’t have. This is a guys Canelo can beat to the punch all day. Canelo by wide UD.

Benavidez has faster hands and throws combination so Canelo won't beat him to the punch. Plus David has a nasty power jab, and is vicious in the ring, he is all wrong for Canelo that's why he never fights him. Canelo is a lot smarter than his fan boys.

You cannot counter all the punchers he throws, he does not have the gas tank or skill for that. Countering is not some magic thing this is not a computer game. Lots of punches with speed and power , are not easy to counter. Plus Benavidez has the power Canelo will respect, he will not just walk through his punches.

Canelo would have to make Benevidez look “bad”. He’d have to make Benevidez miss a lot and not sell his punches when he did land. Canelo is low volume, so he’d have make his few punches count and land at a high percentage. Benevidez didn’t look great early vs Plant and that’s what Canelo would have to do all night in a way. He’d have to look like the harder puncher, more accurate and better at defence. Look more experienced. I like Benevidez and I hope he’d rise up vs Canelo, find a new wrinkle to ad to his game. Benevidez would need to ad that extra punch to his combos like Bivol did. Paint Canelo red early and set a pace that visibly shake Canelo all night. If you can get Canelo to step back/reset and take a deep breathe all night it will go a long way in the eyes of the judges.

Canelo has power, but he rarely executes the knockout unless his opponent is too worn down. I find it quite unlikely that it happens with David if Jermell managed to recuperate from the knockdown.

In my opinion, Canelo would have to make David respect his power and make him hesitate until he gets a UD. Which sounds quite difficult considering Benavidez has a long reach, an intense work rate and a pretty solid gas tank throughout all twelve rounds.

Canelo won't have to find Benavidez because he'll be coming forward all night. That's what Canelo likes. Canelo will counter the $h!t out of Benavidez all night. I got Canelo no doubt
