I was more of a HW dork back in the day so I knew Gypsy John Fury. I'm sure there are some like me so I wouldn't say nobody knew him. A few of us knew him.

His claim to fame was getting starched by Akinwande. He was a microscopic blip on the heavyweight scene and retired with an 8w 4l 1d record. Maybe some people such as yourself remembered him but he didn't have a successful career by any stretch of the imagination.

Tbf I wouldn't say he's a genius, but he knows what'll get headlines & how to get fans inflamed. Hell he's doing in this thread. Thats engagement. That gets the word out. That gets more ppl seeing the word. That gets ppl buying a PPV.

I didn't say he had a successful career lol, lets not get this twisted like that. I said ik who he was. I'm sure others did too. I'd bet a more UK fans, than US fans like myself, knew of him before Tyson put on gloves. Thats all that got brought up was knowing of him before his son got on the scene.

More ppl need to look at more things in boxing like this. Not just this fight.

Thats why I'm not too harsh with the YT fights let alone with Tyson vs Francis. You either love fighting all the time, some of the time & in some cases not at all. If you are the last I assume you aren't even here to talk boxing. If you are a some of the timer, don't watch fights that don't interest you, go do something else. And if you are an all of the time fan, like myself, just enjoy what the best fight on at the time is to whatever level you can enjoy them.

Well he is not doing anyone any favors by saying that the other guy looks like rubbish and will get knocked out in one round. Maybe talk up Mike Tyson training him, should be a good fight for Fury etc. Seems to me the sales are probably not as good as they hoped it to be. Nobody really wants to watch this.

I think thats a simple way of looking at it as a person who's not looking to watch it. And fair play with that opinion, thats not an unpopular POV on this forum I assume.

I think you are discounting that the avg potential PPV buyer isn't thinking John's predicting the future & downplaying the opp is the thing. They see this as sh^t talking the opp & they either wanna see Tyson KO1 Ngannou like John is saying or think the opposite is gonna happen as ppl who are fans of or supporting Ngannou. Everyone isn't dorking out on boxing like we do here & know Ngannou has slim odds in this fight. They just are doing their thing without following boxing day to day & casually decide to buy a fight like this cuz it catches their interest for one reason or another. And it tends to catch there interest by viral things like this or past & future things that have been said or done or will be said or done.
