I don't believe anyone at SMW or LH could knock Calzaghe out. It'd take a heavyweight or maybe a cruiser to keep him on the canvas.

I always said the same thing -- if you can't knock Joe out, you ain't winning. Period. He will adapt and find a way to beat you every time.

Before you said Calzaghe "knows now Hopkins can't knock him out" as if that would change something in the rematch. I think we both know that has little bearing since he knew that beforehand.

Second, I disagree with this, if you can't knock Joe out, you ain't winning thing then stating it would take a heavy or cruiser to do it. You are, in effect, stating that he's unbeatable unless facing a 200lb + man who can KO him. Wow. I thought Horus was bad.

I had Hopkins winning the first time, and while Hopkins never makes exuces he did have a thyroid infection during that training camp and fight. The only reason Hopkins lost in some peoples eyes was because he got tired late. Also nothing clean landed from Calzaghe, and many in press row gave it to Hopkins, including British sportscasters.

Fact is, Calzaghe did a fair bit of holding himself, and was pretty dirty in that fight himself.

OK, but Hopkins initiated well over 100 clinches. And if the fans are gonna make excuses, I'll mention Joe's smashed up hands. That's a pretty major handicap.

But the best I've been inside the ring with was Joe Calzaghe in sparring. Beforehand, I thought he was quite boring to watch and looked as if he slapped but, **** me, he punches hard. If he slapped, Bernard Hopkins would've stood toe-to-toe with Joe, but he [Hopkins] got on his bike, didn't he? If Joe and Nigel [Benn] had fought, I think Joe would have been able to take the pain and would've ended up hurting Nigel, bit like Michael Watson did.

Maybe, but Bernard hasn't went toe to toe with anyone since the 90s. It isn't his style, and to be truthful punchers really do not bother Hopkins, matter of fact he has his easiest fights against punchers. Hopkins Calzaghe 2 would have been a fight that could have gone either way. Hopkins was the one opponent who could easily land on Calzaghe, and Calzaghe and his constant flurries would make it seem like Hopkins was getting hit. Bad style matchup for both guys.
