Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Hopes Joe Joyce Will Weigh Heavier for Zhang Rematch

Frank Warren remains flabbergasted by Joe Joyce's decision to slim down for his first fight with Zhilei Zhang. Joyce, the heavyweight bruiser from London, weighed 256 pounds ahead of his showdown with China's Zhang in April, about 15 pounds lighter than his previous fight against Joseph Parker last September, in which he weighed 241 1/2 pounds. Joyce knocked out Parker in the 11th round.

Big **** lights him up again imo. Joyce needs to survive long enough for Zhang to gas out. That's his only shot to win this.

I honestly don't think it matters if he reacts slower because he wasn't reacting fast enough the first time, and he's never really been one for avoiding punches. He got his moniker for his penchant for defending punches with his face and not getting stopped.

People need to stop equating mass with speed 'It does not always correlate'.

if Joyce is over 255 + pounds, then he is fine 'I think the heaviest he has been is 260 + pounds'.

Joyce's speed is pretty much always the same. It is his durability and endurance which are his main attributes.

For Joyce to win this rematch, I don't think it will be to alter his conditioning that much 'To win, he will have to alter his tactics'.

I don't think Joyce is going to try and bull Zhang, I believe he will try and out boxed Zhang 'And use the same tactics, that he used to beat Dubois'.

Note: Joyce pretty much beat a peak Dubois. A Dubois who's aggression was off the charts, and a Dubois who seemingly did not care for anything coming his way 'Until he was met with Joyce's strength and durability'.

I don't think gaining masses of weight is a good idea for Joyce, if he is to gain weight? It would be best to stay in and around the weights he has been in the past.

I honestly don't think a fighter like Joyce or any Heavyweight should obsess over their weight 'Just train, refuel and whatever weight they are that is it' etc.

Joe is fairly basic, simply trying to out boxing Zhilei Zhang will play out like a bad rerun.

Joe may be determined but he's also slow, has no footwork and he's not hard to figure out and that leaves Joe with just two viable options.

IMO, Joe can either come in swinging and hope to catch Zhilei Zhang or make it ugly, lay on him, rough him up, wear him down and then catch Zhilei Zhang. I just don't see another avenue.

I think this might be the fight that Joyce gets KO'd. Zhangs been talking about how easy the first fight was, if Joyce is even heavier he's gonna get his ass kicked like Kownacki
