  • Is Canelo Alvarez an old 33 years old?

His last 2 fights suggests he is. I would say 3 with Bivol but I think Bivol beat him because he was too big and too good. I think Canelo is an old 33 and I don’t think Jermell Charlo will be an easy fight. I think Jermell Charlo has a shot at beating this old and declining Canelo.

I don't think he is. I think Canelo will look good in this fight!

I think Canelo has a lot of big fights left.

      I'd say so.

When you've been fighting at Championship level since your late teens/early 20's the chances are you will have a lot of miles on the clock by age 33.

Usually works that way any way.

        100%

Fighters are not the same after they fight GGG ONCE.

Canelo fought GGG 3X and took a lot of shots in the first 2 fights. badly rocked in the 2nd one. He is damaged 100%

Bivol despite not having that many KOs is still an above average light heavyweight puncher. He unloaded on Canelo at will. Canelo took damage against a LHW that night.

Yes, he was prime when he faced Floyd and he is past his physical prime but mentally is still sharp.

He's had a lot of fights and achieved more than.most so he's oldish now. But he's good so might not be so obvious to the naked eye. He's still good enough to beat names

Looking at his resume he started as a pro at 15 & had gone 10rds or more in 8 fights by the time he was 18. He's been 10rds or more 27x his whole career. He's nearing 500 pro rds boxed.

Idk how you can't be an old w/e age you are having that much exp. I think it is a plus when you are young with that much exp, but as you get older I think it wears down your body earlier than others. And lets not bs most guys at 33 in boxing history have been past prime/seen their best days. The guys' everyone names that were good after their early 30's were mostly outliers or had a good night or two left more than they were still THAT GUY they had been earlier in their career.

                  That’s true.

A lot of young fighters who don’t get credit for beating an “old great”…beat that great fighter at age 33-35. Fans usually disregard wins over greats who around that age range.

35 seems to be considered ancient for a boxer among fans. If that’s the case, then 33 is old for any boxer. But especially for a guy who’s been pro since 15.

I think Jermell at 33 is fresher than Canelo at 33 though. I don’t think Jermell has been in that many tough fights, which will probably prolong his prime. Canelo had a prime well-spent on fighting very difficult fights.

You'd have to think so given his lengthy pro career and how young he turned pro, but I personally haven't really seen signs of it yet. I mean, his body seems to be breaking down a bit with injuries becoming more frequent but that's normal for any athlete in their thirties really.

I don't think he's looked particularly bad or diminished in his last couple of fights though as most people seem to. He got a legit win over Golovkin which—even in spite of Golovkin's age—is no mean feat, and put an absolute beating on John Ryder who is no mug himself. I thought Canelo bossed that fight and looked fine doing it.

As for Charlo, even taking the weight difference out of the equation, this is a huge step up in class for him. I see that as being every bit the difference-maker in this fight as much as the added weight. There's only one winner in this one for me.
