It's no longer profitable for promoters to stage big heavyweight fights particularly in America. Fighters with any modicum of star power want too much money. They're not even considered big fights here in the US. They're just the average high-profile fights that ESPN would rather do on regular subscription, instead of PPV.

Idk that this is true. I just don't know if the US has enough high level HWs anymore, if you look at the TBRB rankings there are 3/11 US guys, like they used to so that hurts the ability to even do PPV's. So its more an issue that the US doesn't have the product to give fans what they want at HW PPV-wise. The US used to kill HW unlike any other country in any other division. Thats no longer the case. It's no longer profitable for promoters to stage big heavyweight fights particularly in America. Fighters with any modicum of star power want too much money. This era we are in is more of a UK HW era. I mean guys like Whyte & Del Boy are PPV guys over there ffs. AJ is the biggest HW PPV guy in the game.Comment

The writing was on the wall when Espinoza stopped covering Wilder's fights starting from the Ortiz 2 fight, "Wilder-Ortiz PPV deal didn't make sense for us."It's no longer profitable for promoters to stage big heavyweight fights particularly in America. The Showtime boss passed it on to Fox Sports, which, of course, forced Deontay's management team to accept whatever deal Fox came up with for them. What choice did they have? Fox's boxing department eventually closed shop.
