However, his career seems to have fallen off a cliff ever since Catterall took his soul and Teofimo took his hope. Very difficult for him to bounce back from especially in the stacked 147lbs division where he'll be taken out with ease based on his recent performances. He has to PROVE his greatness just like Teofimo did after bouncing back from the Kambosos fight and conquering another division.
The thing with Teo is he hasn't got the wear and tear
I was one of the only people on here who said Kambosos would give him problems stylistically. Styles make fights and i could see where Teo was going to struggle if he had no real game plan. That loss was down to complacency and maybe still being quite young and still getting to grips with different styles. That style of Kambosos of standing on the edge of range and firing off quick combinations will would always give Teo and other fighters big problems if they are too aggressive. It's back foot boxing that gives Kambosos big problems and Teo didn't do it. Played right into his best attributes. Teofimo fought in a naive manner that night.
But with Taylor i just think he's physically declined. He's had multiple serious injuries plus tough fights. Things he can't really reverse at this point.
Not to take anything away from Lopez, he's an excellent fighter when he's on the ball and fights smart and would give any version of Taylor a real fight..but that was not the Josh Taylor of 3 or 4 years ago in there.Last edited by deathofaclown; 09-14-2023, 12:55 PM.HisExcellency likes this.

At one point in his career he looked like a comet shooting thorough the sky, but oh how the stars have realigned, and not in his favor.TheOneAboveAll likes this.

As for Teofimo, I've always rated him as the joint 2nd best young talent around 135-140lbs alongside Tank but behind Shakur. However, his downfall was being too aggressive and looking for the knock out which led to him being picked off and defeated by Kambosos as you've already stated. Still, I like this 'Teofimo 2.0' boxer-puncher character who sticks to a game plan instead of fighting off emotion and the fact that he soundly defeated BOTH Lomachenko + Taylor is extremely impressive and makes him an 'unofficial' 2x undisputed champion just like Crawford. Hopefully he can put together a winning streak as he looked to be a bit fragile mentally which could've been his undoing.Last edited by HisExcellency; 09-14-2023, 03:46 PM.
