well... bivol won the first fight so i would say bivol has the edge in terms of negotiation.

C'mon. He is chasing greatness. Sure Bivol beat him up badly, and yes he wanted the rematch, it's just that Bivol asked for too much money, meaning he asked for anything, because well F you Bivol, you were better than Canelo thought you were. Learn how to lose, buddy, and then get your Canelo face of boxing payday.

What you all have to understand is, Canelo tried to pull Badou down to 180 and get some of that greatness, Badou was not man enough. And I mean Benavidez blah blah blah.

Canelo is giving us all the fight we didn't know we wanted to see.....surprise greatness!!!!..... fighting a guy without a fight in a year and a half who is two weight classes below him, coming up to 168. Listen to the Charlo guy mouth off, he has most people believing this will be a great competitive fight, and not just a payday on his way out of the sport!!! Everyone wants Canelo to fight Benavidez, but Canelo is coming off a tough fight with the legend John Ryder. Canelo made the best fight he could for the fans, why can't people understand that? Now people want him to fight Bud at 168. Again, why???? That fight makes no sense unless you are talking the most money and biggest fight for both guys. Canelo has no need for that silliness. He has another damaged ring rusted Charlo to fight after this first Charlo. And I mean, Benavidez? Who cares whatever stop talking about %$#%@ BENAVIDEZ.

          He is chasing greatness!!!

            Stop it, you ginger coward.

This man took your soul and you won`t revenge it.

You were clearly looking for easier touches, like Charlo brothers.

Considering how much $ Canelo can generate, It's hard to explain not wanting to pay 10M to Bivol (if that version of the story is true). Maybe there's more to this but, smells like he negotiated his way out of a fight he had little chance of winning.

Canelo is big enough not to need us anymore so he's talking to very specific fans.

Bivol had the numbers, he knows how much $ he might be leaving on the table. He also knew what other fights were possible and how they paid. If they didn't take the short $, I have to assume they don't need it.

When Canelo was talking rematch, I thought he wanted a way out of boxing. Now, I know better. It was never going to happen and a Charlo fight makes it easier for most to forget the Bivol fiasco.

This article is about the legacy of Canelo. Canelo going for the revenge of a painful loss.

Fighting Canelo is always good from a business side. But from a sporting side it is clearly a risk. Look at the scoring in the Floyd fight. Look at the scoring in the first Bivol fight. Every damn judge had him winning the 1st 5 rounds when every boxing fan, even a complete casual, can see there is NO WAY that he won the first 5 rounds.

So when you are the clear A side and you WANT a fight then you can make it happen. Do we really think that Bivol was making unfair demands? Most likely just asking for a fairer deal. But Canelo had no confidence in winning the fight. He didn't really WANT the fight.

Lets face it, he can make as much or more money fighting Jermell. Where is the bigger risk? - an elite LHW who has already outclassed you once, or an elite LMW who is coming up 2 divisions to meet you at your preferred weight.

Canelo is trying to save face here. That said, I do think that folks are way too harsh on him for bypassing Bivol rematch - he bit more than he could chew and understood it, fair enough. He's not a LHW; way past his prime Kovalev fighting 2 months after the prior fight is not a Kovalev who fought Ward in their first fight.

A more deserving criticism of Canelo is that he tends to fight elite or high caliber fighters only once they've hit the magic age of 35+. Bivol and Charlo are two exceptions: with Bivol - Canelo showing his over-confidence and with Charlo - Canelo calculated a lower risk since Charlo is 154 pounder 2 divisions below Canelo. And, let's be honest, Charlo is no GGG either. Benavidez fight would undoubtedly generated more $$ for Canelo, but there is a reason he skips Benavidez now and fighting him later will only favor Benavidez more.

Welcome to the real world, Canelo, you are not the a-side in negotiating when you take a loss to the fighter you want to negotiate with, he’s got one up on you, you want to run it back you play by his rules. It’s ok, folks talking about bivol ain’t getting paid, true, but Canelo is also not getting that loss back. This loss will haunt him, and running from the rematch will too.

His values and virtues, as well as valuing himself are worth more than the 30 percent that Cinnabon is asking him to bow his knee and take. Dmitry is already rich beyond anything he could have made in Russia, he has stated that its more about legacy for him. That's why he said that he really didn't care about the rematch unless Cinnabon put his belts on the line or offered something monetary that he couldn't refuse. Canelo didn't do either.
