  • Sean strickland proved how superior boxing is to kickboxing in mma

A hillbilly with no athletic ability started to focus on his stand up game and improved his fundamentals since the loss to pereria and managed to beat one of the best strikers in the ufc. Now i still think he loses to pereira but you can't deny how superior boxing is to kickboxing in mma. The kickboxers hesitate and leave themselves open to strikes as they try to kick. If you learn to defend the kicks, boxing > kickboxing all day everyday. If you can prevent takedown and you're a great boxer you can be a p4p star in mma. That's how weak the boxing is in the sport. It's an absolute joke. Mma guys are trash in striking.

If you learn a good boxer to throw and defend low kicks, he can disturb every kick/thaiboxer. The fundamentals one gets from boxing (movement, speed, angles, positioning) are unique. Sure, boxing has its drawbacks, just as every other style.

I am not saying boxing is superior to MMA. MMA is not even a style, but a set of rules. But boxing skills are a must for a fighter.

So basically if you develop kickboxing skills then boxing > kickboxing. Got it.

So if you can effectively mix your martial arts you can become good at mixed martial arts. Got it.

MMA is a four legged table. The best fighters train in all four.

        1. Boxing
        2. Kickboxing (including Muay Thai, Lethwei, Savate, Sanda, K1, American, Dutch, full contact Karate, etc)
        3. Body control wrestling (freestyle, American folkstyle, Greco-Roman, Sumo, Judo, etc)
        4. Submission grappling (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Catch Wrestling, Sambo, Judo, Luta Livre, etc)

That's why they call it mixed martial arts.

And they become an MMA fighter, not a boxer.
