Frank Martin will eventually fight Tank

And he'll make more money then. Seems like a smart move to me.

Smart move is to seize your opportunities, he was offered over 1million guaranteed. Smart move would be to fight Shakur now and the Davis fight could still be there. Now he’s ********. Haymon has done this move numerous times and it didn’t workout for a lot of guys, Quillin and Ortiz as examples. Quillin ducked 1.5mil and dropped his belt only to get knocked into irrelevancy against Danny Jacobs. Luis Ortiz missed out on Joshua money.

This isn’t a business move partial to the fighter, this is Haymon’s empty promises to benefit himself.

These guys are dumb and Haymon takes advantage of them for his ideals. Perks of being the advisor.

With how he looked last fight I don't love the "eventually" part of the equation if I was Team Martin. I'd hope this would be next not eventually cuz I could see Frank get upset by a random guy & lose both bags potentially.

It was the only time I really saw Frank look that bad. He also bit down and did what he had to do to win. But you're right, next would make a lot more sense than eventually.

The thing with Haymon is he's ultimately winning if the boxer wins so this doesn't make any sense. Haymon gets a % of purses. And as Fulton (in making the Monster fight), Jacobs (in going to Matchroom) & Errol (in giving more of the pie to Bud) showed if a fighter really wants to make a move they hold the cards despite what the Haymon preferred move would have been in these situations & others. There probably was an issue with the Shakur deal or there is probably more money in fighting Tank in Dec or early in 2024.

Haymon’s goal is building PBC into the UFC, not any singular fight/money. If he wants money there are plenty of crossover fights he would’ve taken to cash in his hypejobs.

Haymon’s advisor contract is on the net. Spence was threatening to sit out indefinitely while outright refusing the Thurman fight Haymon tried his darnest to enforce. That’s not a guy in control.

I reallllllllly disagree with this. The UFC gives fighters no control except to deny a fight & sit as punishment & low pay compared to their market value. Haymon gives fighters control while giving them options, back end money & some of the best paydays in the sport of boxing. These two operations are very different.

Everyone knows Errol has a grudge with Keef & didn't want that fight. And ultimately he didn't fight him. If Haymon operated like the UFC Errol would still be sitting.
