Maybe he didn't pack his own luggage and somebody else snuck the gun into his bag? If he could convince the court that he was an innocent man who got duped by somebody else, they would probably be lenient.

Not saying that doesn't happen, but he's here for a boxing match, it's not a Hollywood action film

Who is going to plant a gun on him? The spit bucket guy? A cut man? Nigel Benn?

Who is really going to have that much access to his luggage? Only someome around him and why would they even be carrying guns around when they're there for a boxing match in Manchester?

Its a weird story for sure though, either way you look at it. He's either managed to get a gun from US to the UK. Or he's got a gun here when there's absolutely no need too. Or someone in his inner circle has actually set him up? But is it likely one of them has been putting the feelers out to buy a gun while over for fight week?
