The fact that carrying a concealed firearm is illegal in the UK is only the start of Bomac's problems. If he was caught trying to board an air-plane with a gun, the penalty will be much more severe than if he'd been caught just about anywhere else.

Absolutely. I can't see how he's not looking at some serious jail time, unless there's more to the story that exonerates him.
But if the story is as it appears so far, he's not getting off with a slap on the wrist.
Unless someone else claims that weapon…I can’t see how he gets out of this without some life altering consequences. America is gun country and it’s normal to forget a gun in a bag (go to any airport in the south or Midwest and you will see it happen daily). Only thing I can think of is he flew private there and commercial back. Otherwise, he’s the dumbest fat fatty on the face of the earth.

Maybe he didn't pack his own luggage and somebody else snuck the gun into his bag? If he could convince the court that he was an innocent man who got duped by somebody else, they would probably be lenient.
