Maybe not but it would certainly be major progress towards that end.

If Charlo pulls this off (big if) this is HUGE for his legacy. Who has Charlo ducked ?? He’s undisputed at 154 and the only reason he isn’t fighting Tszyu is to take on a much stiffer opponent in Alvarez, unless of course you folks think Tszyu beats the 2023 version of Canelo.
If he beats Canelo he’s undisputed in TWO. That hasn’t been done too many times, I hear. and never by a guy skipping a whole division.

Of course i’m not saying that’s all Hagler did, he beat a bunch of top middleweights of his time.Don2021 likes this.

Canelo didn't choose Charlo on a whim. Charlo happened to have the conditions he's always looked for in his career. He's much smaller and has been out for far too long.
Beating Canelo could only be a great win if Canelo himself is great. He is no such thing. He's not even close to being a great. He's a good fighter and no more who has an entire career of picking vulnerable opponents or sabotaging them before he'll fight them. He never goes looking for the best. The complete opposite actually.

In the same vein, if Canelo loses to Charlo, what legacy is there to tarnish, he isn't viewed as 'great'. You guys spew so much hate against dude, you don't even recognize when your arguments are discrediting your own guy. Canelo has done enough at this point to be considered a great therefore if Charlo wins, it will boost his legacy for sure simply becos he would have beaten a great fighter.Last edited by rrayvez; 08-28-2023, 07:49 PM.

Yes his going up 2 divisions, anyone whose seen Canelo's last 2 fights knows his on the decline and still I doubt he will win so let's wait and see, his resume doesn't put him down as one of the greats and if you think it does you are clueless.
