I’m not sure about the “shrewd moves” part. Garcia left a lot of money on the table over the years - if he’d played things right he could have earned twice the money in far fewer fights. He couldn’t have been that great of a businessman if he was reduced to conning money out of Eddie Hearn for no-hum DAZN fights at the end of his career. I’m sure Garcia has made a lot of money - but you can never have enough and he didn’t maximize his earning power to the fullest. He’s a lot like Andy Ruiz in fact.

Had a great career considering he never liked boxing, the guy always wanted to be a cop.

yeah, if he would have beaten Loma, which was certainly a possibility, he definitely could have elevated himself. That Top Rank feud always seemed manufactured. They wanted to match him harder than he wanted.

I really wish we could have seen Mikey face off against Loma and Tank and all those guys. He was a lightweight and had absolutely no business going up to welterweight where he was just too small. His skills were incredible and I believe he would have had at the very least a 50/50 shot at beating any of those lightweights of the last two years. His heart didn't seem to be in it those last few years he was active and wanted to cash out against Spence.

Mikey just had THE best 1-2 combo in the game, as far as I’m concerned. It was predictable, and we all knew what he was trying to set up. But he landed it. All the time!

Mikey was the common man’s favorite fighter. Wasn’t a gym rat. Didn’t love the sport. But was good enough to bust yo ass! I like fighters like that. Being a fan of the sport, maybe it’s not great. But when you step back and think about it all, and don’t put unrealistic expectations on people….. Mikey was great in what he wanted to do!!

Loma vs Mikey, a great "what ifs" of the past few years.

I think he maxed himself out so I disagree. I think TR was underpaying him so he left. He used free agency to get big money when ppl were throwing around a ton of money. Part of the problem with Mikey was he is like Jared Anderson now. He didn't really love boxing so I think that limits your drive to excel & it was mostly about making money if not from the start at some mid-point stage of his career.

I think Loma woulda won. I don't even think it would be THAT close of a contest.

A totally healthy Loma wins I think but the Loma who faced Teo probably not.

Mikey’s lackluster showing against Spence is what I’ll remember him for unfortunately
