    Clear low blow.

Man people have become so used to rules being violated that they've forgotten what the rules are lol.

These types of punches/violations have become so commonplace, as well as other violations like ducking below the waist - that people have forgotten that they're illegal moves.

That is not a low blow. Usyk was bent over and his belt line was at the navel, not below. It doesn't matter where the belt line is, what matters is where the punch landed. The beltline moves as a fighter goes up, down, bends, etc.

The best known recent example would be Ward hit Kov literally in the crotch. Kov was bent over and his belt line was at the navel. Had Ward landed on the beltline, it was a legal shot. He landed on the crotch/cup area. That is a low blow. And if Usyk had been upright and the beltline below the navel, clearcut low blow. But the punch Dubois landed was not a low blown if landed in 99% of other fights, it is a body shot.

I have no beef with that and totally agree
I was just saying that if that was an act , he deserves Academy Award

          • Obviously, the reporter here is a little bit in the dark about a low blow and how an upwards shot to the body can rake the cup up and about neuter a fighter. Please, we need better boxing writers who just report the facts and leave the commentary alone.

              Yo, HypeJob

I was a judge for professional boxing. That was a low blow. I' not going to provide commentary on this as other people on the thread has done a good job of this. my advice to you is to do your homework. And if you are a fanboy just stop. Dubois had an o% chance of winning in my book. He was not nor will ever be ready for a fighter like Usyk. Reminds me of Yarde yet another fighter who will never operate at an elite level.

I don't care about Dubois and said in many other posts that he sucks and Usyk whipped him. I also believe Usyk likely gets up if he hears a count start.

The punch landed on the navel line, not below. It didn't land in the crotch and push the cup up. I've seen punches land in that general area before and it is not called low. On the beltline is always a judgement call, that is why it is called "below the belt". From what I can see, the punch landed above/ near the navel, not below, as Usyk was not standing upright. The cup is strapped around the waist.

i disagree. My only credential is having watched thousands of fights over 35 years. Low blows are generally not hard to see. This, again, is not a low blow in other fights. Right or wrong. The beltine moves with the body, it doesn't sit in the exact place at al times.

On a side note, I've seen many, many absolute morons working as boxing judges. Just pointing that out.

                  • Dang, all these folks over analyzing this whole thing. Folks taken a scientific approach that Usyk was bent at the knees at a 45 degree angle his waist was at a 37 degree angle therefore his trunks rode up 4.8" and covered his belly button and therefore it was a legal punch. Meanwhile back in the real world the ref had what a few seconds to make a call and with everything I know about boxing along with what I saw he made the right one.
