Comments Thread For: Oleksandr Usyk-Daniel Dubois: Stats and Stakes

By Cliff Rold - It's been a year and change since Oleksandr Usyk last stepped into a ring and not much has changed. Tyson Fury is the best heavyweight in the world. Usyk is his chief rival. They aren't fighting each other in a clash of undefeated titans this Saturday (ESPN+, 5 PM EST). Efforts to make that fight failed to bear fruit and so Usyk moves on to his mandatory against a WBA sub-titlist with a lot of question marks.

Good assessment. I'd have to agree on a UD win, but Usyk stopping his foe would be an added bonus.

If Dubois is compromised by his acl tear injury then it will show up by mid rounds - if not much earlier as Usyk will be making him twist on that leg if he is smart. And he's plenty smart.

Cannot argue. If Dubois is to get the upset he needs to connect and hurt Usyk early. Surely Usyk and his corner knows this. I can see Usyk keeping either a safe distance and forcing Dubois to chase him, or take the Buster Douglas against Tyson strategy of stepping in really close where Dubois and his power is muted. Than, it is just simply Usyk resting on his cardio and skill at punching from angles to make this one sided.

I love Usyk, but do know he does not KO HW. Usyk by wide UD.

Greatness at Cruiserweight and two exceptional wins at Heavyweight represents plenty of good credentials. The many belts held and a premature gift belt from the former "Bible of Boxing", The Ring magazine have no Liniage, and are therfore of limited meaning.

But Oleksandr Usyk stands today as Tyson Fury's no. 1 challenger.

Daniel Dubois is one of the top performers of the next generation. He has the size, power, skill and conditioning to trouble anyone in the world.

Blogger level boxing writers and fans are giving Dubois scant hope of a victory later today, but he is a qualified contender who's only blemished outings have been the result of injuries incurred during the fight.

This is a great pairing, and the division is alive with activity.

What does Usyk have to do in order to wet your appetite for a show down with Tyson Fury?????
Is a slick 12 tound judges decision enough?????

                    Good to hear.

Does it have something to do with the otter?
