We cant always compare power based off level of competition. Raw power is raw power and if Wilder lands flush, anybody will go down just the same. He put Fury to sleep for good 9 seconds or so only to get robbed.

Edwin Valero knocked out a bunch of bums too but is his power any less than Pacquiao’s? They had different types of punching power but both guys power were real.

Wilder is a true KO artist.

I do think his right hand is legitimately one of the most devastating one shot weapons in boxing history. Also because its so quick and can land from far away. But of course his level of opposition has helped his KO % too. Hes quite defensively vulnerable so if he'd fought stronger opposition over his career a lot of guys would have gotten to him before he got to them.

Fighters such as Wladimir Kiltschko, Vitali Kiltschko, Lennox Lewis at their peak overall offensively were most likely more dangerous than Wilder 'And nobody really rate's those fighters as monster punchers, even though they were power punchers'.

So I don't think Wilder's absolute power is overrated, but his offense is 'Wilder's ability to deliver his power is not as great as past offensive fighters'.

There were many destructive punchers in the 90's, their power also had range and variation 'There was not just one fighter like in today's era, that the media built up as a monster puncher'.

Note: This era of Heavyweights although it is a Super Heavyweight era, there are not many great offensive fighters 'Or power punchers'. And I think this is also what highlights Deontay Wilder.

Maybe in past era's Wilder would just be another dangerous Heavyweight 'Wilder's absolute power is not overrated, but overall his offense is not skill for skill elite'.

Regardless, I still rate Wilder extremely highly within this era of Heavyweights etc.

You could argue Povetkin has more power than Wilder. He's stopped far better men than Wilder did.

he's knocked out one fighter(twice) who was in the top 10 and that was ortiz the other 4 fights he had against guys in the top 10 went the distance or he got ko'd. thats a 33 percent ko ratio which is pretty standard when men step up in competition, but wilder rarely steps up his comp so some people are fooled by ko'ing bums. wilder goes from 100 percent ko ratio against unranked fighters to 33 when fighters are in the top 10. shocker? no. guys like joshua and wlad have higher ko ratios against top 10 opponents.

his competition has been horrid though. how devastating has wilder been against top 10 opponents? he's 3-3 with 2 kos for a 33 percent ko ratio.

He has the highest KO ratio in history

hes knocked out or knocked down every fighter he ever faced.

he has many one punch KOs and weight wise he is a small heavyweight. he is sometimes 215 pounds still one shot KOing guys who are 250+
his ko ratio(33 percent) against top 10 opponents is less than guys like joshua and wlad and im sure many many others i just didnt look them up. im not sure why we are giving wilder props and accolades for fighting weak competition more than other top guys did/do. puzzling

There is absolute power, then their is overall destructiveness.

Wilder has a serious level of absolute power with his best punch.

But overall, there could of been many more overall more destructive offensive Heavyweight fighters.

Because they have more range and delivery with their power etc.
