When Mike Tyson fought the best in his peak of his prime he knocked them all out Wilder struggles to knock the best out when he fights them ( which be rarely does )
Is Wilder power overrated ?

He's got power, but it's very much over-rated. He fought 38 bums and knocking out 38 bums doesn't mean you have Thors hammer for a right hand. This era is pretty slim, he's dodged a lot of big names, and we all know why. But with that said, he can spark AJ rather quickly imho. -
This is why wilder needs to fight toughest chin guy of this era. I mean who is today's mercer?
if wilder kos him, well there's your answerComment

All I can think of is that time he had a fight in the gym with Charlie Z and it took several hard shots from Wilder to put him down and he was fine a few seconds later. His buddy Malik clearly took a dive for him, I suspect Ortiz and Helenius did too.Comment

what does mike tyson have to do with wilder? wilder clearly has power hes kod 40+ professional fighters; i think some get carried away with the bum talk and forget that alot of these are ranked professional fighters, had wilder started boxing earlier im sure he would have been more technically sound, on a side note its not like mike tyson has this killer resume tho its better than wilders many make the argument he fought alot of bums. boxing fans lolComment

His power is extremely overrated. I took his best shots and it was the equivalent of being hit by popcorn!Comment

He's sparked out plenty of guys with one shot to let you know he has serious power. He's not a skilled boxer so sometimes it takes a while for him to land that clean killer shot.

When you check Wilder's resume, he really has not ****** out the caliber and level of fighters that Mike Tyson, David Tua did.
Wilder hits with great power with his best punch. But overall his offense is not as devastating as other past great offensive fighters.
Fighters such as Wladimir Kiltschko, Vitali Kiltschko, Lennox Lewis at their peak overall offensively were most likely more dangerous than Wilder 'And nobody really rate's those fighters as monster punchers, even though they were power punchers'.
So I don't think Wilder's absolute power is overrated, but his offense is 'Wilder's ability to deliver his power is not as great as past offensive fighters'.
There were many destructive punchers in the 90's, their power also had range and variation 'There was not just one fighter like in today's era, that the media built up as a monster puncher'.
Note: This era of Heavyweights although it is a Super Heavyweight era, there are not many great offensive fighters 'Or power punchers'. And I think this is also what highlights Deontay Wilder.
Maybe in past era's Wilder would just be another dangerous Heavyweight 'Wilder's absolute power is not overrated, but overall his offense is not skill for skill elite'.
Regardless, I still rate Wilder extremely highly within this era of Heavyweights etc.
