Don't say that Russell! They will say that you are making excuses! Not taking anything away from Crawford; Who fought both superbly and masterful in that bout.
Aside, from Crawford being the better fighter and athlete. However, Errol Spence has only himself to blame for his lackluster, uneven performance and subsequent loss.
Errol appeared to have aged some fifteen years since the last time we saw him inside of a boxing ring with both Danny Garcia and Yordenis Ugas. He wasn't all the way back from those bouts either.
For example: In the Garcia fight; He took several rounds off without throwing any punches. Which is tell-tale sign that something was wrong with him and the Ugas fight he got hurt and buzzed several times in that fight as well.
What I am saying is that while the car accident and detached retina may have played a major factor in his performance against Crawford.
However, it wasn't the main factor why he performed so poorly that night. The main factor was Terence "Bud" Crawford's commitment, discipline, dedication and determination to his craft.
Bud wanted it a whole more than EJ and it showed. Which is why he was the better man that night.

Article mentions Spence looking spectacular in the Garcia and Ugas fights
he looked pretty poor against Garcia. Ugas he looked ok, but Ugas’ style didn’t exactly bother him
ive said consistently on here, look at all Spence’s fights properly, instead of whitewashing them based on the outcome alone.
Spence went life and death with Brook. It was a razor thin fight up until Brook suffered, incidentally, the same problem he suffered against Golovkin.
Spence vs Porter was a razor thin fight again. Spence barely edged it out
Spence vs Garcia - whilst Spence clearly won, it wasn’t a dominant performance. For someone like Garcia, you’d have expected someone of Spence’s supposed calibre to dominate him
It looks to me the injuries outside of the ring aren’t major factors - he’s had question marks over his actual level since at least 2019. It’s no shock that Crawford outclassed him, severely

I watched him at the beginning of his career and he was a beast. But over time, it became apparent he was not a killer. Which is fine, he is a nice guy....but Bud was always built different.
I guarantee Derrick James thought that Spence would bully Bud around the ring, break him down and stop him. Bud was stronger, hit harder and is alot more talented. Pre accident, post accident, etc, it makes no difference. Spence was never a killer. PBC protected him from Bud for years as they knew he would get stopped.

Stevie Wonder could see Spence was shot to hell.
People always compare a boxing KO to a car crash. Spence had all his teeth blown out of his head in an actual car crash after smashing his head on concrete. Unconscious. Stretchered to ER.
Yet some how he's perfectly fine.
