crawford beats him.... canelo is still the same guy who got boxed silly by a past prime mayweather, quick black fighters have always been his kryptonite he looked like garbage against jacobs and lara too and probably will against charlo... i dont see any reason why crawford couldnt go up in weight and win a decision canelo would be plodding around the ring again like he did against mayweather and barely land a punch

What would sell more and SECOND, what would be a bigger challenge? Crawford fighting Boots...or Crawford fighting Canelo?
The only reason people are cheering this crap is because they saw Canelo recently look like crap, they're Crawford fans who want to see him get a win over a declining Canelo, and they'll make excuses for why it's a great win despite Canelo clearly declining.
I'm not directly a Boots fan. I recognize his skill. He's quality. But I need to see more. He's a mandatory. I support guys fighting their mandatory UNLESS they choose to fight other threats in their current weight class.
Boots has more fans than people think. Him and Subriel Matias have strong support online. Boots can't sell with his mouth, but the footage sells the fight. Especially if you sell the narrative that these are both guys who aren't afraid to slug it out. And remember, Joshua recently was not PPV, which means they could do Crawford vs. Boots outside of PPV and make it work.
Go rob BLK Prime again (Crawford's second PBC fight in his 2-fight deal would have to be the Spence rematch unless Spence decides not to). They'll do it.
I mean at this point, if Crawford isn't going to fight any mandatory, fight F'n Broner at 147. That's a gimme. But if he manages to do what no other fighter has done and stop Broner, it's a story to tell.

In reality, I think people were just salty that the third GGG fight wasn't entertaining, and the other fight I don't think a lot of people knew who Ryder was or had even ever seen him fight.
I was upset because Ryder got the shot against Canelo (because quite frankly it didn't excite me) but it's not like he wasn't a VERY durable guy. That's a beefy 168 fighter. I couldn't see Canelo stopping him, but the way it goes...people see a fighter they've never watched against AAA fighter and automatically assume he's dead meat.
I don't think Canelo is the same he was maybe six years ago, but no way in hell do I think he's a shot fighter. That's 1.
SECOND
Joshua-Whyte WAS going to be PPV (in Europe), but once Whyte got popped for performance enhancers, they grabbed Helenius and made it NON ppv worldwide.
Crawford is not going to take a pay cut by fighting Boots. I'm sure it can sell, but no way in hell is it going to pull anywhere near the numbers of the last successful PPV's.
Canelo-Crawford practically sells itself and I'm sure marketing teams and the people behind the scenes are salivating over the prospect of this coming to fruition. It's an absolutely EASY EASY EASY sell.
I ain't gonna' be mad if Crawford fights Boots, but right now Boots has 0 leverage from a business standpoint. Crawford could lowball him and Boots would have to take it because there would be no other fight as lucrative for Boots.

I don't mind it if you've literally beaten EVERYONE. Crawford has not. Charlo has not.
And just like when Floyd took a lowball offer to fight Oscar when he wasn't the frontrunner - history was made, and that's what we should support. Not a circus fight, which Canelo vs. Crawford would be because both guys still have smoke in their current weight class.
I agree. Crawford COULD throw an offer for ****s and giggles to see if Boots would take the bait, and Boots WOULD probably take it. I don't think it'll happen, though.
Thanks for discussing. Usually on this site when people get into disagreements, it dissolves into insults and expletives.
You've made some good points.Last edited by TintaBoricua; 08-19-2023, 01:03 PM.

The way Canelo’s been moving I wouldn’t be surprised if he decides to fight Crawford over Benavidez. Crawford is a better fighter than Benavidez but he’s just now about to move up to 154 whereas Benavidez is a full fledged Super Middleweight with the mandatory right to face Canelo. If the Canelo vs. Crawford even becomes a reality it would be for one reason… Either Canelo is chasing a big money fight against a guy with tons of momentum in Crawford OR he’s outright ducking Benavidez. There’s no in between in my opinion. Not saying Crawford can’t be competitive at 168 but what are the reasons Canelo would opt to fight a 147 pounder over his mandatory who is a natural 168 pounder?
