Instead, he's moving up in weight for what is probably going to be a loss in return for a mega paycheck.

If the timing was different, I imagine Charlo would have loved to face Crawford at 154lbs, hope to beat him (I doubt he can), then go up to fight Canelo for that monster check and take the "L" while he wipes his tears away with millions of dollars in the bank.
The question no one seems to be asking is "Why is Canelo making offers to a fighter @ 154, when he fights @ 168?"

If I wanted to watch people cutting weight, I'd watch something like bodybuilding competitions or CrossFit games or whatever.
I'm not a Sports Medicine Doctor, but i'm sure these commissions could get consultation to find a good 30-Day Limit. For example, if you're fighting at 135, you have to be no more than 150, 30 days in advance, that way they know the fighter can lose the weight in a healthy manner. Maybe that would discourage guys from trying to cut weight during fight week, and allow the time necessary to find a replacement. I don't like "Same Day" weigh-ins, because, in my opinion, that wouldn't do enough to dissuade the weight cut, and most fans have already paid for their tickets.

Just a thought.. for next year

Spence vs Thurman after Spence denies the rematch clause; Crawford vs Tszyu for the vacant 154 WBO title.

Then, it'll be Thurman vs Crawford or Crawford vs Charlo or Tszyu vs Charlo OR Thurman vs Tszyu and Crawford vs Charlo.

Spence will fight Canelo. Plant will fight Jermall. Benavidez will fight Morrell Jr. Inoue will fight Nery. Bivol will fight Beterbiev. Tank will fight Haney at 140. Wilder will fight Usyk (Fury is mentally unstable).

Stevenson will fight Loma. Jared Anderson will fight Anthony Joshua. Katie and Amanda will run it back.

    Wild.. if it happens..

Canelo might be the more difficult fight, not sure, as Crawford has more skill than Canelo. The size thing though.

It's a mistake jumping around in weight like that at his age, but we'll see what happens.
