I don't agree with Bivol being in the top 5.
Yes he beat Canelo and had a great year in 2022 but he's only ever fought in 1 division and only held 1 belt.
P4P list fighters should be fighters that have accomplished many things in boxing like undisputed, champs in multiple divisions, beaten the top fighters in their weight class, etc.
Teofimo and Tank also? Really??

But it's not just about accomplishments. It's about how they do it. Inoue and Crawford are undeniable because they are so dominant it's clear they're on another level. And Bivol absolutely dominated Canelo, who was considered the #1 P4P at the time, and had even won a title at that weight class before. So that's part of why he's been rated highly. Long term dominance of a division is a big deal too. He beat Joe Smith Jr, for instance, and if he'd done it at a different time, he'd maybe have another belt. You notice Joe Smith Jr didn't have any interest in trying a Bivol rematch when he was looking to unify. People aren't exactly lining up to fight him. He dominated Zurdo right after Canelo, and Zurdo was 44-0 at the time, and even after the loss, is still the #3 rated contender by Ring, BoxRec, and TBRB.
Teo is on the list because he beat the lineal champs of two divisions, both of whom have been P4P.
Tank is mainly there for eye test. Is there anyone at 135-140 you'd bet big on to beat him? I also don't think he belongs either, but that's the rationale.
And it's all just fantasy anyways. You've got different criteria than other people, so your list looks different. That's pretty much all there is that really needs to be said.Comment

I don't see why bud needs to be no1 with such asterix over his win? It's not buds fault, spence wasn't his usual self but hindsight must be used, it's how you deal with ever changing eventualities, nothings concrete in boxing.
When people think bud couldve best spence in 2 rounds then something's not right with spence. Surely that alone should have some influence on how much credit you give budLast edited by hugh grant; 08-07-2023, 04:27 PM.Comment

He fought them at 147 after his accident, so how is he any less himself than he was fighting them?Comment

Ok that's fair enough, but lets play devils advocate where do you stand if Errol was really messed up, what does it mean then?Comment

Fighting them doesn't mean he couldn't have had an off night. Just sucks that if he did, it came on the biggest fight of his life. I'm not prepared to say one way or another. I don't really give it much credence because he looked fine prior to the fight IMO, and we'll have to see how he looks in his next fight.Comment

I've not even seen the fights, all I know is spence best Garcia and ugas so in my mind he must be fine, but of course that's not the best way to gauge spence. So I was never in a position to say he wasn't himself after Garcia and ugas fights. As far as I was concerned is spence best ugas, who best pac, so surely spence is as good as ever.?Last edited by hugh grant; 08-07-2023, 07:20 PM.Comment
