He'd still be the biggest name and biggest fight available at 154. Who else is there? Tim Tszyu, Brian Mendoza, Keith Thurman, Spence rematch? The Charlo fight for lineal would be bigger regardless of the outcome of the Canelo fight.

For the record, I think it's doubtful Charlo returns to 154 either way.

But if Canelo beats him maybe even by stoppage and then he has to come back to 154 who is going to buy it to recoup the cost it would demand from promoters, if Charlo loses to Canelo its dead, and that's not even looking at the time frame which would put it more than a year from now, I don't know I think the Canelo exercise is dumb, if they pull it off and win its genius and would change everything but Charlo beating Canelo is a very big task.

Seems like boots and Crawford are just gonna be two boats passing eachother. Ennis will have his time but bud is nearly 36 probably don't wanna stick around in the sport till he's 40 he just wants the big paydays why he can get them and can't blame him for it. Boots is talented as hell but right now he's got no belt. Isn't a established name etc he's just a guy who's on the rise. He needs to fight someone of note Ugas,Thurman,stanionas hell go to England get paid and fight Benn who's recently called him out. I've already said that neither Crawford or Spence would fight Jaron 'Boots' Ennis next. Their plan all along was to vacate the welterweight division upon completion of their bout.

There is just not enough money to satisfy both parties for a fight with Jaron Ennis. Moreover, Ennis is a very risky fighter too. Boots is young and still has a lot to prove.

He has his whole entire career ahead of him and has not achieved what the more established fighters have achieved in this sport. His place is in the new era of welterweights.

Exactly he's a high risk low reward. No belt. Isn't gonna be a big pay day. And you can't knock bud at nearly 36 wanting his last few fights to be significant money ones

Bud fighting Charlo seems tricky to make regardless of the outcome against the ginger, if charlo wins he'll be holding that 168 undisputed and then Bud would have to make a significant jump in weight beyond 154 as Charlo knows it favors him and will try to gain any possible advantage ,if charlo loses against canelo as expected TC fight loses shine and would make little sense. Bud will end up taking boots fight imo.

If it’s a question of money then obviously Bud would make $20 million plus in Australia so sure but Bud fought Avanesyan and Kavaliauskas BOTH ranked below Boots.
Whether Bud beats Boots or not, Boots is the top contender at 147. Nothing wrong if Bud moved to 154.

I think this interview was before the WBO's ruling. Bud cannot sit out for a year waiting on Jermell, who, despite what he says, likely won't be back at 154.

Mell will likely be fighting the winner of Danny and Lara at 160. If Bud plans to hold the belts at 147, Boots is the only real challenge left.
