Lol......the Fruits are showing their jealousy today!!!!
Any grappler would take the old rapist down and crack his skull on the pavement, possibly killing him immediately. This isn't the 80s and 90s where the "baddest man on the planet" is thought to be a limited human who can only use his fists and teeth in a fight even though his entire body can be used as a weapon.
Aside from that discussion, Tyson is a joke obviously. A media whore who will do anything for money no matter how embarrassing it is for him or his sport.
Sounds like the Marketing Director for MMA.
"All real fights go to the ground" said the old Gracie Jujitsu infomercials. Then the strikers cross trained = no more Gracies effective in MMA.
Listen buddy. I'd like to learn this amazing grappling you guarantee would "take the old rapist down and crack his skull on the pavement".
But as a straight man.....I ain't interested.
"striking" and "boxing" are not the same thing, boxers are not good strikers in a kickboxing/muay thai context and would even lose to good MMA strikers once theres kicks etc involved. Also you're overdoing it with the "best men" thing a little, yeah Conor had one boxing match then came back to MMA and went 1-3. Ngannou did go out as UFC champ but the last guy he beat got stopped in like 30 seconds by Jon Jones soon after. Other than that its 47 year old Anderson, fastest UFC KO victim ever Askren, 4 fight losing streak Woodley, 38 year old journeyman Nate, 1-3 in the UFC Clay Collard.
We who are aware, know that sport fights blending disciplines and merging striking and grappling go back for centuries, though Pankration, Lei Tai, French and Japanese Mirikan, and countless other platforms before UFC 1 in 1993.
We also know that any fighter who hopes to excel MUST train in the ranges that are allowed by the rules under which they CHOOSE to compete.
We also know that a Boxer can beat an MMA fighter in MMA rules, and that the reverse is also true. But what a good natural fighter decides to train for will dictate what rules he'll become best at. Simple.
Very simple.
Francis Ngannou came to MMA as a trained boxer and learned his level of kicking and grapping within a year; and that combination was enough to make him the UFC champion.
Indeed, with only the possible exception of Fedor Emelianenko, Jon Jones, Stipe Miocic, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, Mirko Filipovic and Antonio Nogueira; its a safe bet that Ngannou would be the odds-on favorite to beat any other MMA fighter who ever lived fairly easily.
With Boxing as his base.
The statement about the "Striking" im MMA being something different than boxing is inaccurate, and based completely on envy for all that money the panty wrestlers don't get.
Sorry.Comment

What are you even arguing? how is this relevant to what you're replying to? when did I say a boxer couldnt transition to MMA if they trained specifically for it? Almost every MMA fighter has a base in something specific then adds to their game over time, I never said boxing wasnt an effective thing to have in MMA, of course it is. But theres a difference between being an MMA fighter with a boxing base vs a boxer who walks into a cage and tries to win an MMA fight purely with their boxing skillset.
And no, Ngannou did not find his level of grappling within a year, as evidenced by him losing his first title shot and then effectively shutting down the same guys wrestling in a rematch 3+ years later. Ngannou had been fighting MMA professionally for like 8 years by the time he became champ. Didnt AJ and Wilder go from starting boxing to finding major success quicker than that?
Then why are these crossover fights never kickboxing rules as a compromise? isnt that pure striking? and MMA fighters are ****ty "strikers" compared to boxers...right? should be easy work no?Comment

Can you name these cross trained strikers who ran the Gracies out of town?
