Incorrect. Loser can activate the rematch. But the winner determines the weight. So Terrance can choose if the rematch is at 147 or 154. Both fighters said as much several times, including the post fight press conference where Spence said he HOPES Bud will let the rematch happen at 154, and Bud responded that he would be more than open to the rematch at 154 because the weight was hard for him too.

A rematch at 154 silences that noise once and for all.

You’re reaching my guy. gatti ward 1 was a very close fight with high drama and ebbs and flows. Resulted in another classic rematch and nice trilogy.

Zab didn’t receive a one sided KO beat down from Spinks where he lost 24 rounds of 27 scored rounds on the official cards.

This rivalry is over. I don’t mind the rematch, but there are better fights “for the sport” than to run this one sided ass whooping back at 147/154/160/168. Pointless rematches from one sided beatdowns are what’s wrong w the sport. Its why we don’t have an undisputed HW champ right now.

Again, if weight was really the issue, it means that Spence has a better performance the second time around. Especially since Crawford would be new to the weight. Spence has fought at 154 before.

But if Crawford easily deals with Spence at 154, now you've just sold a fight against Jermell Charlo, because even if Jermell takes an L against Canelo, he'd presumably still be the undisputed champion at 154.

However, if Spence deals with Crawford at 154, it opens questions about his health at 147. It's too late to take that back, but the questions will be out there if we don't get a 154 rematch to at least disprove weight as an issue.

So, your main point here is wrong.

For a fighter as talented as Spence, it's understandable to want to activate the bilateral rematch clause and get right back in the ring with Crawford. The reality, however, is much more complicated. The winner gets to decide the weight for the rematch if the clause is activated, and it's unlikely Crawford would do Spence the favor of holding the rematch at junior middleweight. Spence had previously said Saturday night would be his final fight in the welterweight division. He is a huge welterweight and making the cut is hard at this point in his career. Crawford, who won his first title at lightweight, does not face such a struggle and would likely prefer to instead defend his undisputed status in the rematch.

Why would either Spence or Crawford agree to a rematch clause where the loser calls the shots?

The Charlo fight is there for Crawford right now. He doesn’t need to fight Spence again to open that up. Spence is the one who needs to get a W after that beating last night.

I have no interest in a rematch given how fight 1 went. It wasn’t competitive until Spence faded. He did fine for three rounds, then Crawford tuned him up.

The point that you ignored is, a rematch is worth it regardless of the outcome of the first because there's noise about Spence's physical state.

You silence that noise with a rematch, just like Fury silenced Wilder.

But, what I say, is how fans feel. Marks simply want guys to move on to the next 'eye test'.

What Crawford was able to do to Spence when they fought was nothing short of spectacular.
The pain emanating from Spence face from literally every punch that Crawford landed on it was telling.
Spence was actually cringing in pain, and getting knocked off balance from the powerful blows that Crawford was landing on him.
On top of all of that Crawford dropped him three times during the fight, and was about to drop him a fourth time before the referee mercifully stopped the carnage.
Terrence "Bud" Crawford is one hell of a fighter, boxer, puncher, hombre, and a champion's, champion, he is the best pound for pound boxing champion in the world!

Crawford is now a true champion (not just a beltholder) but the way he did it erased any doubt, at least for me, that it would be nothing but a repeat of the beating if there was another go-around, even at 154. He's that much better than Spence. So I hope Spence passes on exercising the rematch clause. I'd like to see Bud try something different.
