That was a beat down I don't think Spence recovers from this.

For all y’all asking where the Spence fans are. Here I am! I said he’d beat Crawford. Didn’t happen. Crawford was the better man. But guess what, I’m still here, I still support Spence. He’s a world class level fighter. Been P4P for years now. And “I” lose nothing from this. So why do “YOU” Crawford fans feel like YOU gained something?! You’re just a bunch of talkers like me. And someone was gonna lose that fight. So Crawford is the man today! Without question. But not you fans of his. Y’all just like me still. No need to feel powerful this morning.
but I will say…. Crawford impressed me and made a fan out of me.

Countless other situations where going up in weight actually improved the fighter especially if they were struggling to make the weight, as Spence repeatedly said he was even going into the Ugas fight.
Look at Haney vs. Loma. Haney was struggling to make weight prior to that fight too and damn near lost.
Point is you can't discount what effect the weight might have had on Spence. He's been on record for years that cutting weight was increasingly hard for him - even in the postfight he said he "promised" he would make the weight, which seems to imply that he wasn't sure he'd be able to when he signed the agreement.
A rematch at 154 silences that noise once and for all.
Spence obviously felt he could still hang at 147. He looked fine until Bud dropped him in the second, and even during the third. But the difference was he was getting hit more often than he ever has, he wasn’t defending himself well, and that Crawford jab was much heavier than usual (and likely why they stayed southpaw the whole way through - must have felt like a straight power shot). So let’s not make out that Spence was somehow handicapped.
Bud was simply better in every department.greeneye99 likes this.

Excellent fight gallery. The rematch can only happen at 154lbs or a catchweight, but Spence is going to be the massive underdog no matter what. The only way to sell a rematch seems to be to make the case that Spence was weight-drained and inactive, but not sure fans are going to buy that story. Very curious to see what PPV sales were given the rampant illegal streaming. If sales were good (800K) or above, then I'm fairly sure we'll see a rematch.Last edited by TheOneAboveAll; 07-30-2023, 11:50 AM.

The contract specifies that the loser can require a rematch - and the one who requires the rematch calls out the terms of it.
Again, if weight was really the issue, it means that Spence has a better performance the second time around. Especially since Crawford would be new to the weight. Spence has fought at 154 before.
But if Crawford easily deals with Spence at 154, now you've just sold a fight against Jermell Charlo, because even if Jermell takes an L against Canelo, he'd presumably still be the undisputed champion at 154.
However, if Spence deals with Crawford at 154, it opens questions about his health at 147. It's too late to take that back, but the questions will be out there if we don't get a 154 rematch to at least disprove weight as an issue.
The picture I posted above, I did because...look at the size difference. That's abnormal.
