I have 2 thoughts about why Hopkins kinda cried in the post Pavlik fight.

Wow was that ever tough to read. My respect for Bernard as a person just went up in a big, big way. He is really something else to do all of that.

              I'm sure everyone saw this.

I was thinking why exactly did he get like that.

              1. Out of anger cause of so many people doubting him calling him old and saying he's gonna get KO'ed and he shouldn't have taken that fight, he should have just retired.

              2. The kid that he became real close friends with. Don't know if you all have heard about the young fan of Hopkins that was dying from some sort of of cancer and his last request was to meet Bernard Hopkins. He ended getting more, Hop[kins actually chilled with him and his parents and became friends with him and visited him a bunch of times. To Hopkins credit, he didn't let the media know about this. The kid and his family was ringside in the Calzaghe fight. Before he died he wanted to see Hopkins win one last time, he wanted to see the Pavlik fight and watch Hopkins Pavlik. Doctors said that he was fighting to stay alive to watch Hopkins fight one last time and see if his hero wins. Hopkins was well aware about this and I think maybe, just maybe, Hopkins was thinking about the kid(he was friends with him for about 3 years so it's possible) after he beat Pavlik and maybe that's why Hopkins got like that.

The kid died several days after the Pavlik fight. Hopkins was attending the funeral(one of the guys carrying the casket) and the parents put the boxing gloves he beat Pavlik with, inside the kid's casket and they buried him with it.

I'm sure a lot of you have read this story but my point is maybe that's why he got so emotional in the apron cause Hopkins is way too mentally strong to cry for a won where people were doubting him. I think it was for his fan that he knew was dying and knew was watching him.

Actually... literally minutes after the kid watched the Pavlik fight in his living room, he crawled up to his bedroom... smiled at his mom because Bernard won... and he never woke up after that night...
              I never heard about this....

              Wow...just....wow

At the end of the day, Bernard Hopkins is just like every other human being walking this planet ; he's a complicated individual.

He spent the majority of his early life doing horrible things, and he ultimately went to jail for it and paid the price for his actions.

But the one thing that I personally have always admired about him most is his ability to own what he is, and then change it.

He completely turned his life around, gave up the drugs, the alcohol, and the crime. He found a bleief God in one of the most godless places of all in prison, and he stuck by his word to change himself and become a better person.

As much as I admire the man's ring intelligence, accomplishments, and dedication to the game ; there's nothing that he could ever do in any boxing ring that could ever take place over that, in my eyes.

I come from the same place Hopkins does in Northeast Philly, and while I never lived the life he did as far as committing crimes go ; I know firsthand just how hard it is to change your life around when you're born into an area like Germantown or Kensington.

That commands my respect above all else. Everything else is gravy, son.

He's spent a lot of his later years doing positive things to help make up for all of the negative things he's done in the past.

Love him or hate him ; that's something we should all be striving for.

I think that the kid also served as a motivation for him to beat Pavlik the way that he did. He looked so determined to beat the hell out of Pavlik, and this story kinda makes me think he did not only for himself and the haters but also for Shaun.

That's a very touching story, and I think that the media as much as they want to give light to negativity like pre-fight hype "I will never lose to a white boy" I never seen HBO or ESPN cover this story...I mean honestly how many people are gonna read that Yahoo story? I was surprised i didn't get bashed from you guys for posting old stories...I see not even some hardcore boxing fans knew about this story, and i only read this story last year, couple days after he beat Pavlik i found it in the sweet science dot com.

The media should focus on the good things that people do too, as hard as they focus the negative things of people. Afterall, guys like Hopkins, Mayorga, Mayweather, Tarver etc they are just in character when they are in camera...by no means they are actually bad people.

Why are you so sensitive? I didn't diss floyd I simply stated bhop doesn't need a camera crew to film his good deeds.
