Just watched the fight. I'm a fan of Superbad but she didn't look all that good in the fight. Seemed like she's been getting away with some poor technique recently and it came back to haunt her in this fight.

ESPN may be the worst when it comes to being shills for the house fighters and I'd never want to be a fighter going up against a Top Rank opponent in a Top Rank promotion. All of the promotional banners are bad in this regard but Top Rank seems the worst lately.

How do you think he fares with the winner of Navarrette vs. Valdez?

He might take some rounds off Valdez imo, but definitely gets caught with the left hook and stopped at some point. Martinez caught him with some that Valdez would have put his lights out with. Navarrete would overwhelm and dominate Cortes imo

Do you think he gets the opportunity?

Probably not after that performance, he'll need another win or 2 imo. I don't even believe he's ranked in the top 15 by any sanctioning bodies, so he has to continue to climb. That's why I thought someone like Blunose Lopez or Andy Vences would be good opponents for him next, veteran guys that have been in there with dudes at the top. If he beat one of them next, it'd certainly put him on a list of contenders and may set himself up for an eliminator or something close to it.

The fight was for a WBC Silver title, so that might get him in.

Interesting that this is only the second time (since 2016) he made the super featherweight limit.
