Comments Thread For: Terence Crawford/Naoya Inoue: Nine Years Converge

By Cliff Rold - Nine years is a long time near the top of the sport. Nine years is consistency. Nine years is longevity. Nine years is a long time to wait to make the statement that your greatness is undeniable. Saturday night, 35-year old WBO welterweight titlist Terence Crawford (39-0, 30 KO) will face 33-year old IBF/WBA/WBC welterweight titlist Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KO) in the biggest welterweight fight since Mayweather-Pacquiao. Like that 2015 megafight, Spence-Crawford is a bout years in the making, full of promise and anticipation and no certain answers.

I hope Crawford beats Spence and then moves up to conquer 154, and I hope Inoue smashes Tapales and then moves up to conquer 126. Keep aiming for greatness, keep the debate going.

Great article Cliff. Those figures show also that Inoue has done more than Crawford. His weight span is 14lbs whereas Bud's is 12lbs despite fighting at a much higher weight.

That fight was at 140. Bob was stuck because Prescott's opponent pulled out four days before the bout. Bud was training for something else and did him a solid. The same Prescott who starched Khan a year earlier. Just goes to show the mindset of Crawford to take such a dangerous opponent on short notice.

Inoue beat fulton in first fight in division. Bud is fighting Spence after having 8 ww fights and campaigning years in division. Not quite the same

Yeah. It is more like Bivol and Beterbiev fought each other. Crawford has been 147 guy for like 5 years.

True, that's why bud beating spence doesn't quite get him to Inoues level. I want bud to do exactly what Inouev does to get my respect. Bud needs to fight charlo in his first fight at light.middleweight.
Of course bud won't do it, yet wants Inoue level respect?
