Whyte did not want the rematch on bad terms. He wanted a one fight deal then if successful take on Wilder.

AJ will take a huge hit if he gets beat by Whyte and depending how he gets beat it can be even worse. Not only that he will take Wilder down with him because a Whyte/Wilder fight is not as lucrative as an AJ/Wilder. Plus they might rematch if Whyte wins freezing out Wilder even more.
