I spoke to his trainer Manny Robles, and asked if Vergil could comfortably make 147.. his body language in his response said it all, the writing was on the wall, it’s been time to move up to 154..
Similar scenario played out when Vergil was at 140Comment

Nash was very much looking forward to this and felt it was going to be a great fight. I'm a big fan of Ortiz, but he needs to sort his weight out and comeback properly next time, as all these postponements really annoy fans. If you aren't in the physical or mental shape needed to be in a fight, don't be making fights. I'd be pissed if I was Stanionis, losing the biggest fight of his career the day before, and it has all ended up being pretty predictable. I expected this and I'm sure others did too. Nash outESPN article I read stated it was issues with making the weight. Whether it was Rhabdo, weight issues, feinting or a combination of all three it sounds like 147 is a thing of the past for Vergil.
Was really looking forward to this fight, a shame that it got cancelled. Feel especially gutted for Stanionis.Comment

Stainosis has nothing to be pissed off about.. he’s being vastly overpaid for this fight.. and he was responsible for the fight being postponed the initial time to begin with..
all of the belts are about to become available at 154, Oscar needs to position Vergil to fight for one of those titles relatively soon,
get Vergil one fight at the weight, Patrick Texieria a former world champion would be a good opponent to get him positioned for a world title shot immediately.Comment

They were going to fight for Stanionis ' interim title, not Ortiz's. Stanionis and Ortiz fight pretty much the same way, but Stan does everything better. He would have forced Vergil to fight off the back foot, which Ortiz can't do, and put him to sleep around the 6th round. Vergil would have left beaten and trinketless, at least now, he doesn't get pummeled, but still without anything to show.Comment

Whoopdee doo you must be the only one lol. Wow only a complete tool would post how much he claims to bench press to a stranger on a boxing forum. Get wrecked? I've been lifting naturally for over 30 years. I've played college and semi-pro sports, I've been a firefighter and a paramedic. I've had to learn to walk again. I've gotten wrecked and had my ass handed to me plenty thanks very much. Get out on a triathlon course with me and see who gets wrecked. Or do a combat challenge with me. Someone who has any clue what they're talking about doesn't refer to it as "the thing CrossFit people get." Has Virgil had it twice or has he "LiTeRaLLy" had it twice? He must do lots of Crossfit then since it's synonymous with the CrossFit brand. I'm sure the SAR guys at the fire department all got it because they did CrossFit too. My buddy who was a PJ got it too because he did Crossfit. Has nothing to do with Crossfit and everything to do with not taking proper care of yourself, which Ortiz is obviously not. If you're not going to educate yourself pay a trainer who knows better.
Yes the thing CrossFit people get, it's a condition synonymous with the CrossFit brand. Virgil's literally had Rhabdo at least twice, it delayed the McKinson fight and one of the Stanionis delays. Heavy HIIT with no rest days for your body to recover while at the same time cutting weight and dehydrating yourself can lead to Rhabo. Also I bench 315 for sets of 10, lmao get wrecked.
The only thing synonymous with Crossfit is being a douchebag.Last edited by sidefx996; 07-07-2023, 10:21 AM.Comment

This is a good copypasta, I'm stealing it thanks. Also yes, Rhabdo is associated with CrossFit, sorry if this is your first time learning it. They even turned Rhabdo into the unofficial Crossfit mascot, Uncle Pukie. Just google Uncle Rhabdo, CrossFit Mascot, or Uncle Pukie if you don't believe me.

Like I said, Crossfit is for douchebags so I don't need to learn who their mascot is. You honestly sound like you're about 13 years old. But next time I'm in LAFitness I'll be sure to have you autograph one of your bathroom selfies for me after you put on a bench press display for everyone.
