Cotto was beat by a cheat in a career-ending beatdown, he was then given two B grade wins and then Manny in a CW he didn't want he was literally thrown under the bus by Arum and quickly left top rank and moved up a division, Manny called Cotto out for his 154 title and Cotto said no problems but no CW and Manny took off, same Cotto isn't it, Manny knows it wasn't otherwise he would have said sure lets go.
Margarito was KOed by Mosley then thrown out of boxing for nearly 2yrs had one fight against a nobody in Mexico and looked like sht, then he was refused a boxing licence by the NABF so Bob bought him one in Texas, a 154 title at 150 in a 24ft ring, the fight was a joke.
Thurman was nearly stopped by a B grader Lopez that Maidana stopped, this was after Keith had a long time out with major surgery Manny quickly grabbed that fight after seeing this , I called it at the time and then Ugas proved the form beating Manny with ease.
Margarito, Thurman and Hatton not even close to prime.
This was what Roach said about Thurman.
There are more than a few boxing fans that feel that Thurman (29-0, 20 KOs) is nowhere near the same fighter he was three to four years ago. A combination of inactivity, injuries, and outside interests have taken a lot from his game. Roach sees the same deterioration in the 30-year-old Thurman that others have. Thurman fans believe that the only reason he looked bad in his last fight against Josesito Lopez last January was due to the two-year layoff that he had from 2017 to 2019, but there were signs of physical decline in Thurman that go far beyond just ring rust. One Time Thurman looks older than his chronological age of 30. Physically, Thurman resembles a fighter closer to 36 or 37 than he does 30, and that’s not good. He’s not going to be able to age backwards like Benjamin Button from the Brad Pitt movie.
Margarito was weight-drained against Mosely and could no longer meet 147 anymore, which is why fighting Manny (a former 108lber) negates that excuse.
Thurman wasn't stopped by anybody, which is why he was undefeated. Yeah, he didn't look great against Josesito, but so what? People have off nights, but the fact is Manny was by far the smaller man and 40 YEARS OLD when they fought. Keith thurman was still on P4P lists all over the world when they fought & was a champion.
Hatton was off of two of his most dominant victories against Lozano & Paulie Malinaggi when he fought Pac.
He as KO'd by Floyd at 147, a weight class that was not natural for him.
He fought Manny at 140, a much more natural weight class for him.

Al Hayman plays a part in that too. HBO used to make fighters fight until Hayman leveraged Mayweather to make money for his other fighters. Boxing has been on decline ever since the Golden boy/Hayman output deal with HBO which ultimately lead to HBO getting out of boxing.

Margarito was not weight drained at 147 at that time, he went up in weight because of 2yrs out where he blew right up in weight, he fought a C grader in his comeback and looked awful and then Manny at 150, did you know they refused Uri Foreman at 154 because he would not have a CW and Roach said Uri was too big, Margarito is the same size as Foreman just some trivia for you.
Cotto stopped Mayorga after Mosley and Oscar did which was before he fought Floyd at 154, Mayorga was MW at that time, Oscar looked terrible at 150 fighting a LW Steve Forbes and then he fought Manny and was drained so badly he gained 2lb from the weighin and Manny outweighed him on fight night, Oscar had not been at 147 for over 10 yrs.
Cotto rejuvenated at 154 because of the weight and the mental win he got over beating Margarito, he states this himself, why did Manny want nothing to do with 154 Cotto after calling Cotto out, same man he stopped isn't it?
Hatton was screwed stopped by Floyd and then he developed a bad coke habit changed trainers lost his family and wife and you say he was prime, Lazcano was a cab driver and came out of retirement Pauli was never the same after Cotto and Pauli wasn't much anyway to be honest, look how young Porter destroyed him, they fed Hatton two wins same as Cotto after Margarito so they could sell them to Manny.
Floyd and Hatton were both 140 fighters fighting for a 147 title, the fight night weights were the same as Hatton was beating KT 153 and Floyd was 152, its all in Hattons auto biography book have a read, he tells about how he was so sluggish in the Collazo fight at 158 and said he would never fight that high again he didnt.Last edited by Roadblock; 07-06-2023, 09:38 PM.
