Don't get me wrong stanonis is no joke and and live dog here but I don't see how him winning would benefit the sport. The sport wins by having certain guys succeed it's the way it always Been.
The sport benefits because all the good welterweights are on PBC and Showtime. Also they're the only ones that actually make fights happen. At one point DAZN had the 3 middleweight champions on their books through gbp and Matchroom, but never made any fights happen. They're happy stretching the work and stalling careers like they're doing with Munguia and Garcia - look at GGG.

I got Ortiz by a via majority decision victory. This is going to be a very close fight.

Stateside has never embraced this current influx of Eastern European fighters. Even the Klitschkos had to fight out of Germany because they couldn't find an American fanbase.

They were simply not popular or marketable enough among the American casual fan. Which is why they never headline any pay per view events. Let's just take Loma for example: His first pay per view only did a 150K buys.

Upsets get more attention and get fight talk going long after the fight is over. When a favorite wins people shrug and say well he did what he was supposed to do, he beat an underdog. But when the dog comes out on top, people begin to look at he media favorite for who or what he is maybe for the first time. Boxing is a promo mans dream when it comes to hype so this whole thing about "good for boxing" dont ring true to me at all. Not trying to disagree just dont see it the way you do it all. Beating the favorite in a fight often lets fans see for the first time the shorts of a fighter bc pryor to a undefeated fighter or a fan favorite all his weaknesses never get discussed it is only after he gets the lose that people begin to talk about what he cant do or has never been good at. It makes for more interest in every next fight by him or the next guy that comes along. It is what makes heavy weights so interesting bc one punch and a guy is out of there belts change attitudes change, pocket change becomes folding money. Everybody loves a dog, that is why so many people own dogs...................

I've stood side by side with both Ortiz and Staniosis.
Before meeting Staniosis I thought it'd be a 50/50 fight.
But Staniosis is small compared to Vergil.
Ortiz by UD. Possible late stoppage.

Not really. The sport isn't going anywhere and never has whether one guy or the other wins. It might be better for certain promoters or broadcasters if their guy wins (which is probably why they usually do), but the sport itself is fine as long as there are good fights.

I think Ortiz is the logical betting favorite, but the current odds seem crazy. I think this is going to be a very competitive fight that will finish with a late rounds KO of Stanionis. At their best I think Ortiz is the slightly stronger and quicker fighter, but both guys are as tough as they come and both can crack. Stanionis is going to attempt to keep it close and stay on Vergil's chest which plays to his strengths inside, but Vergil is very good at creating the space he needs to hurt opponents, so this is going to be an interesting tactical matchup. The one x-factor in my view is Ortiz' health. If he has not fully gotten past the effects of rhabdomyolosis then that could well be his undoing in a grueling 12 round fight.

Why is he the underdog? I thought Vergil Ortiz is a mere hypejob. This is 50/50, right?
