Golovkin was attacked also many times over. Same people now say of Jermell's case, "Well, this is higher risk than Tzsyu, you can't attack him for that." as if the Tzsyu fight got the same reward.

I give Kell props in that it took some huge stones to move up two weight classes and fight a prime GGG who was utterly destroying people up to that point. In hindsight, however, it was a terrible move because it ruined his career.

There were better fights for him at 147lb. No one was calling on him to fight Golovkin. He let his obsession with Khan derail his career.

I'm a Brook fan and I was disappointed. He had the Spence mandatory waiting and needed to be 100% for that, going up 2 divisions to get his face broken and then having to take all the weight off and come back down wasn't the right move for his career.

Charlo is getting big money and he wants to provide for his family, it's understandable. But just from a boxing fan perspective it's a bad thing. Instead of a competitive fight in Charlo-Tszyu we get a guy having to move up 14lbs to face Canelo where he doesn't have much chance.

Generally guys who go up 2 divisions for a big fight don't have a good career afterwards. Khan, Brook, Mikey, Rigo didn't achieve much after going up, losing, then moving back down.

It looked for awhile that he might pull off the upset. Almost any other fighter's chin would have cracked under his assault but not Golovkin's.

the bigger mistake was coming back too soon afterward at 147

Interesting part missing in this thread was Kell Brook, before the GGG fight, was calling out Thurman,
Broner, Garcia, even Spence who was not ready at that time and had to fight Bundu first.

In other words, Hearn and Brook were desperate for fights, but not a single one from the PBC camp was interested.
Thurman in particular was gaining momentum and was the real target, but anyone could have gotten it
                but they're not interested.

And at that time Hearn was severely criticized for lining up bums for Brook after securing a belt held by Porter.
The last bum Brook fought was a Canadian, I don't remember his name, and fans have had enough.

Hearn and Brook wanted PBC guys but were turned down, and it so happened that GGG's negotiations with Eubank went sour.
The rest is boxing history and is general knowledge.

well canelo is hardly looking like a killer any more in his last 2 fights, he may well be over that hill and on the way down, someone will prove that, why not little charlo? imagine that

I still maintain had Brook not gone up 2 weight classes, got his eye caved in and then dropped down 2 weight classes to fight Spence his very next fight, a fight with Spence would've been very different.

Brook was no joke, but you can't go up and down divisions like that.
