it doesn't matter what hopkins did or didn't do.

1. All boxers are hypocrites
2. 15X stronger? lol...he can make 160...he's a middleweight...if it was that hard making 160 he'd be weight drained or forced to move up
3. Bernard has no control over who is at 160...he beats the men put in front of him...
4. He fought Robert Allen in 2004 not the 90's...
2. The fact is Hopkins is one of the few fighters who actually entered boxing at one division, then scale down TWO divisions. Srl, Srr, not even Hagler scaled down divisions, only up (except for hagler of course). I can't think of any other fighter who has done this. You watch his 90's fights and see how much stronger he is than his opposition, then come see me.
3. True, but if you are dominating a weak division, whats the sense of staying and rotting there, especially if you know you belong at 168 or 175. At 168 he had plenty of name fighters he could have staked his claim against and received plenty of props for beating. Hopkins was rotting at 160 until that middleweight tournament came long. That was his saving grace.
4. Fought Allen 3 times, with the first being in '98. Look at how he ran Allen over in the rematch and in subsequent fights with Simon Brown, Bo James, Antuan Echols, and get back at me.Last edited by djtmal; 10-01-2009, 09:52 AM.Comment

i give him credit...he would look like a crack patient making 160 and sometimes below that...long, lean cats with low bodyfat can get that off..., but after the weigh-in he's up to 170+, fighting a blown up welterweight who is sluggish @ 160....not a mystery that hopkins also refused to be weighed in after the official weigh-in on several occasions...just like floydLast edited by djtmal; 10-01-2009, 09:56 AM.Comment

All the best fights for Hopkins were at smw: Benn, Eubank, Toney, Jones etc. He had no reason to stay as a mw fighting the likes of Hakkar and Echols for 'peanuts'..Last edited by Adamantium; 10-01-2009, 09:58 AM.Comment
