Can Floyd be considered one of the greatest welweights of all time?

I have always admired his skills in the ring. I have no doubt of his place in history. But I have to question the level of his opposition at this weight class. His opponents at welterweight include Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah, Carlos Baldomir, Ricky Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Now, compared to other hall of fame fighters, does he need a fight with a true established welterweight to be considered one of the best of all time at the division, or is he already one of the best even with the opponents he's faced at 147. Your thoughts gentlemen.

Unfortunately not. He needs to actually fight and beat some top welters before he can be considered the best in his division. This goes for any fighter, and Floyd shouldn't get a pass.

It's simply inexcusable not to fight the biggest threats in the division you reside in.

The sad thing is, he can beat almost anyone in and around his weight class. Marvelous talent. He just doesn't seem to have the balls to risk his 0.

not even close. If he takes out Cotto, Clottey, Mosley, Berto, and someone else like hell even Margarito, then absolutely. But he only defended his Welterweight title once against a JWW (which is more than a viable defense, because Hatton was an undefeated JWW moving up, unprecedented type of fight) But then called it quits and fights against the lightweight champion of the world. There is time for Mayweather to do it, and he has the skill. It's just a matter of him doing it.

Not a great WW. He needs to fight and beat some top WW's before he can join the discussion.

To be a great welterweight you have to fight welterweights. Floyd has only fought 4 guys that can be considered true welterweights and that includes DelaHoya which he fought at 154.

                So, no way in hell.
