I don't care for a Munguia fight at all. It does good business most likely but it's not one I am hyped for.
Morrell would be an amazing fight but last I recall Shields was a little apprehensive to put Morrell in that fight this early in his career. I can understand that position from his view as the coach when you see how potential Morrell has.
Benavidez is in a bit of a tough spot here though because he literally has a shot at all the titles within reach. I would suggest fights with the other top contenders but outside of Morrell (his team has to be on board as well) I think all the other contenders are still hesitant to fight Benavidez because he doesn't have the titles. Anyway you slice it Benavidez is the favorite on the odds with pretty anyone you match him against at 168.
That begs the question of why not fight at 175. I'm sure he would (easier to make the weight) if that shot at Canelo for all the belts was not right there waiting and the fact that it would be a huge fight business wise. Once he moves up I don't think he would be able to come back down in weight.
All that said I am thinking a Munguia level fighter at 168 is who he fights to serve as a stay busy fight to stay active. Similar to the Tszyu-Ocampo fight last week. I don't care for it fight wise but I understand it if the Canelo fight is next. Of course I would rather have the Canelo-Benavidez fight next but it's not looking like it.
