I’m one of the few that have been high on Regis since day one.
Progais has a very fan friendly style but one thing I noticed in his wins and his lone loss; he doesn’t make big or early adjustments outside of the initial plan. I think his lost to Taylor was due to the lack of adjusting and when he did, it was too late. He tried to “out Taylor” Taylor and once he noticed Taylor wasnt blown away by his power and Taylor was actually timing and catching him on the inside, he made adjustments. He almost pulled it back but lost so many early rounds.
Same with Zorilla(spelling) fight. Regis stayed with the same approach and tactics which lead to a stall out of a fight. Allowed Zo to maintain a perfect distance to pop shot but mostly just circle the ring at a distance that was out of reach for Regis. Outside of the occasional shot, Zo pretty much naturalized Regis’s power and had him dangerously reaching to connect.
As for Haney, now It’s a fight. I think it’s not a forgone conclusion Haney loses violently. Haney is very disciplined and has a great jab. I can see Haney pop-shot 12 rounds in a low punch count, circling type fight. Haney’s chin is the X factor but as much as I like Regis he has more of a chopping style power vs one punch power.
If they do fight, I’m curious who the betting favorite will be. I’m up almost 10k this year already.
