The two-division lineal champion has severed ties with the WBO junior welterweight title just five days after the 25-year-old boxer dethroned Scotland's Josh Taylor. Lopez insisted after his sensational win that he was done with the sport. His actions since then at least lend support to that claim.

Appreciate the boxing journalism taking place in this space. With some referencing Teo as a two time undisputed champion, spelling it out that he was never undisputed would be helpful to those that are delusional. Taking nothing away from Lopez' accomplishments, it would have been great to see him actually chase and achieve true undisputed status. Although it wouldn't have been easy, I think he could have pulled it off with the right matchups and maturity, at either 135 or 140.
