It doesn`t matter. None of these guys is very good. People are only pretending they are watching something great because we have 17 divisions and 4 major titles.

Lopez fights like a complete stupid, throwing wide open punches all the time, i am saying that again, you can only fight this way if you are a midget fighting other midgets with no power.

heavyweights with that style are called journeymen and they have many losses early in their careers.

Wood is OK, but he lost fights at domestic level and was never seen as much of a good fighter. Hes not some true world class fighter. He used to get knocked out by fighters like Gavin McDonnell.

So that puts into perspective how good your man Lara is. He's a C level fighter with pretty heavy hands. That's all.
It is classified as a world title though?

Wood (27-3) has better wins in Xu Can and Michael Conlan than his previous losses unless losing the 0 plays a bigger role in his standing. Pretty sure he beat top fighters in the division in good fashion excluding the likes of Robeisy Ramirez, Luis Alberto Lopez and Josh "headbutting" Warrington.

Same with Lara, he defeated Warrington and Wood, plus he is just 25 years old and after bouncing back has plenty of options to fight. He will be fine.

Short answer is Wood is not Conlan.

Conlan got this silly bending too low defense when things get tough. I'm not a fan of such style. And I was rooting for Wood when they fought, (first fight I've seen from both of them). To be fair, Conlan's sudden aggressive spurts would disorient lesser fighters. Wood was poised and didn't let himself get intimidated.

This thread has a stupid title and assumption.

There is no WBA super champion at featherweight so Wood is the WBA featherweight champion.

He has lost at domestic level in the past, but has improved tremendously since he linked with Ben Davison.

Lara wasn't the same guy in their rematch. Weight could have been a factor. But it looked like, having already lost his title on the scales before the fight even started, he didn't have the same motivation to take risks and bridge the skill gap between himself and Woods with drive and aggression. He seemed content to just box it out after getting dropped in the 2nd, and he was never going to win a boxing match with Woods.

Lara will be fine around fringe world level where his limited skills belong. You'll barely hear his name in a couple of years time. He's a bully fighter with limited skills. Once he got dropped yesterday, his balls disappeared.

Yeah Wood beat Xu Can, who has Can ever beaten?

What's Conlan ever done? Had two title fights and got knocked out cold in both

I like Wood, glad hes getting some pay days but the reality is both him and Lara are C level fighters and will likely get smoked by fighters like Figueroa, Vargas, Ramirez etc..

The massive difference between Wood and Conlan is you can get away with being wide open and taking liberties against a feather fisted fighter like Conlan, if Lopez leaves himself like that against Wood you are getting badly hurt and probably put to sleep. I would fancy the ever improving Wood to outclass and stop Lopez within 8 rounds.
