    the thing is...Corrales+Castillo definitely>a 43 year old Hopkins. Hopkins is still solid at that age, but nets not go overboard. Hopkins is still a hell of a fighter, but lets not forget his losses to Taylor and his close ugly fight against a blown up Winky Wright that got outhustled by Williams in his next fight.
    DLH+Hatton>Kessler
    Genaro Hernandez>Eubank(at that point)
    Jesus chavez=Robin Reid
    Judah>Roy Jones(at that point)
    Gatti=Bika
    Corley=Woodhall
    Baldomir=Lacy

    etc...and Im being fairly generous to Calzaghe you know.
    You are. Jesus Chavez wasn't elite but he's a two division champ. You could make the argument that he trumps most of the names you threw out there.

      Malinga was getting on a bit, but he was still a world class fighter capable of causing plenty of problems. In the end experience told. Reid made some mistakes - the kind that you expect from young fighters on their way up. No shame in that.

      I cut Reid a bit of slack over Branco. He'd just come off two big defeats and didn't seem in any way prepared for the fight. That said, Branco was no bum. He got a win over Glen Johnson and was another who was the beneficiary of some "questionable" judging in a fight against Ottke.

      But the important thing is that after that loss he rebuilt himself as a fighter. His style changed. His training changed. His lifestyle changed. When he entered the ring against Ottke he was on a ten match winning streak. But it all finished that night. You could tell he was not the same guy after. A tragedy.

        And yes, the Corrales at that time was an animal. Good enough to be ranked higher than Floyd p4p. Yes, it's debatable. What's not is who won convincingly.
        Rated pound for pound by who? Kessler is a better boxer. Chico was a tough guy with a big punch, but tailor made for Floyd.

          Good question. Has Kessler been rated pound for pound by anyone?? Corrales was rated by every mag I could think of.

            If Corrales was rated in the top 5 p4p, it mustve been a barren time in boxing.

              I dont put much stock in these p4p lists, personally. very situational.

              simply put though, Corrales wins over Casamayor, Castillo and Freitas>Kessler's whole career, even if the Casamayor and Castillo wins are controversial.
              Even Corrales' win over Manfredy is about as good as any other single win Kessler has had.

                Yeah, 2001 was barren.

                  Those wins were after the Floyd fight. Corrales has more names on his resume but if we're talking about whos the better boxer, its Kessler. Dont need a magazine to tell me that.

                    It was sarcasm. Point being Corrales never belonged amoung the top 5 fighters in the world at any point in his career.
