I like this fight and I agree with Shakur, an immediate rematch is the only correct response to a fight/decision like the one we just saw. There will always be an asterisk next to this fight on Devin Haney's resume. I don't expect a rematch to happen though, Devin killed himself to make weight and he obviously gassed out in the second half, I think this was his last fight at 135 lbs. Shakur vs Loma or Tank for the best 135 pounder is what I wanna see.

Yeah, it would be tough for him to make weight, no doubt. But, where I disagree, is that is a good enough reason to not have a rematch. If Haney would have been dominant and left no doubt, then it would be a different story. But, fair or not, a lot of people thought that Loma did enough to win, so if they don't run it back, the perception of a gift decision will follow Haney for the rest of his career. And, for someone who aspires to be great and mentioned in the same breath as great fighters from the past, then he needs to follow in the footsteps of his boxing idols and mentors, Mayweather and Ward, who had close fights with Castillo, Maidana and Kovalev and then had rematches where they not only put an exclamation point on the fights, but also made more money than they did from the first fights. But, I won't be holding my breath that it will happen, mostly because of delusions of grandeur from Bill Haney claiming that the fight wasn't close, lol, and more importantly, as good as Devin is, he doesn't seem like he's cut from the same cloth as Floyd and Andre...

I see no problem making this fight. It's all up to Arum. This is a better fight than the one with Haney.

When your young you tend to think 35 is old. Then next thing you know, your pushing 35 and honestly If your in good shape and get good rest it really doesn't feel to much different than 29 or 30. Loma won't really decline until he's around late 36ish or 37 if he chooses to stay around that long...

"Feel" is the operative word here. 35 may not feel different until you face a 29 year old. I raced my son when he was 16 and I was 41 because i ''felt'' young. It was no contest, lol. I kept waiting for another gear to ''kick'' in, which never happened. Loma made a great account for himself, but that's a rarity, and time isnt on his side.

Loma isnt shot. He just lost. Shakur saw what Haney did and knows he can replicate that with no problem. He also has much better defense than Haney.

Shakur is my guy but he clearly wanted Loma to win because he figures it would be an easy win.

Lomenchenko past prime is stiffer comp than prime Haney.

Excellent post. You make many valid points to which I tend to agree. In a perfect world there should be a rematch. However, this rematch talk is nothing but a smoke screen. Let's reverse it shall we?

If Loma would've been considered the victor on Saturday night; Do you still think that these same Loma fans would be clamoring for a rematch? Hell no, they wouldn't because their guy would have won. These fans are being both biased, tribal and hypocritical when it comes to this rematch talk.

Loma fans just want Haney to continue to fight Vasiliy until he loses because they didn't like the outcome. In addition, Loma fans are bitter because the black guy won again. They couldn't give a good damn whether it was a close fight or not.

Haney would do himself and his career more of a favour doing a rematch. He was talking about retiring Loma and how bad the beating was going to be and he fell short on both counts . If he feels confident that he did win then he should take it , I don't think he will , as I think the smoke his dad blows up his arse has made him nearly as deluded as his dad himself. I hope he takes it , it really is unfinished business.
